Right. Go out now and try to find that Odyssey at 35k. It’s not there.

2022 Honda Odyssey EX at Bill Page $35,690. The trim level and options are what pump the price up.

A new Highlander is literally $56 off the lot. And that’s only if you can find a dealership that has one, and you get what you get, no choosing your colors or interior options etc. if they have one on the lot that’s what u get

I *literally* just drove a new AWD Highlander XLE off the lot for 35k. Paid cash. Financing 60k is absurd.

Our car payment for the new car is $1,000 a month for 5 yrs. and although we got a 1.9% rate it still shocks me and weighs heaving knowing we have to pay that much every month. Do others feel the same? What did you do about? Did you pay it off sooner? Does it even make sense to pay it sooner with such a low interest rate?

Welcome to 2021 and buying a car in September, or worse, Striketober --when unions are on strike and there are enormous supply chain issues.

Dealerships cannot get cars in stock because the smart chips for cars cannot be made fast enough. There are literally NO cars to buy, and the ones that are left, are getting marked up 60% and more.

Price was $60,000 no money down and no trade in
you made this choice. There are plenty of spacious cars that don’t cost 60k. Own your decisions, don’t complain about them.

Minivan was another option for us, we liked the Toyota Sienna but the price was about the same came out to $55k. No real difference in price

Come on, that price is for the top trim level vehicle. You could save $10k or more by buying something less fancy and still have a new hybrid vehicle.

Wow, that's a good deal. I assumed Odysseys were over $40,000.

We were recently at a Honda dealer and looking at CRVs. Not my favorite car, but looking nonetheless. The base and mid-trim levels were around $30,000 - $35,000. Additionally, this Honda dealer had a "market adjustment" price on their cars. This was $3,500 added to the sticker price of most new Hondas on the lot. Sales guy attributed this to demand, COVID, and supply chain issues. Needless to say, this made our decision easy. No way were we paying $3,500 over sticker. We ended up getting a 2022 Subaru Outback for $32,000. Not a sexy car, but comfortable enough and goes great in the snow, which we like since we take trips out to Canaan Valley to ski.

To, OP, with $1,000 car payment. Hope you enjoy your car. I could barely bring myself to spend over 30k on a car. It's been a while since buying a car and was conditioned to spend no more than 25k. Realize that times have changed, but 60k for a car is a lot.

That seems like an amazing price. They are listed as "starting" at $40k in my area. If you can find them.

I think the OP's point is that you go along in life, thinking you are normal, and then you notice that your monthly car payment is $1000. It's like you're a Rockefeller all of a sudden driving a Bentley. Instead, you're just a regular person buying a family SUV.

It's like the first time I went to a friend's house that cost ONE MILLION DOLLARS. Turns out, it was just some brick colonial in Bethesda with an addition in the back.

I call BS. The MSRP on 2021 AWD XLE is $41K+. If you bought the car in VA, you would have had to pay approx $33,000 + tax, title, fees. There is no way you got a $8,000 discount off MSRP right now, unless you forgot to mention a trade in or downpayment.

Y'all OP already said they bought it because they just really wanted a new car. And they are tall. So a $60K vehicle is literally the only option available!

it's 2021. not 2019.

This. Apparently you didn't even think about it. I can see someone consciously thinking they can beat the interest rate in the market and deciding to put nothing down, but apparently the whole idea of a down payment didn't even occur to OP.

I'm in the market and just want to know where. Highlanders are one of the cars that we're looking at and getting anything more than a token amount off of MSRP seems hard right now.

Good for you. CRV is a boring and loser car, but good for you.

Plus used cars are the same price. Really old beat up used cars are still $20k.

I call BS too. We’ve been car shopping too. No Highlanders for under 40k.
