Random guy complimented me. Wwyd?

In line at Wegmans and a guy said excuse me but I think u r stunning. I bumbled a thank u but quickly turned away. Was I rude? Is this guy creepy? Outwardly he looked fine like he was going to work.is this just how guys pick up women now? Pretty ballsy if you ask me. Or maybe he says this to many women and hopes one responds favorably?

Was I rude to turn away and ignore him?

You said thank you. You didn't ignore him. Might have been nice had you made eye contact, smiled and brightly said "Thank you!"

Have you ever considered he might not have been trying to pick you up? I'm a straight female and sometimes compliment people when something about them strikes me - their great smile, a bracelet, their shoes, whatever - and I'm not trying to pick anyone up.

Unless he was being rude or aggressive, I usually say thank you. Sometimes it's a pick up line. Other times, it's just a compliment.

Uh have you never received a compliment before? Only creepy thing is your insane over analysis of it. Sometimes a compliment is just that - a damn compliment.

Creepy loser male who feels entitled to interrupt women in public. Nothing new about it.

If you want to have fun, next time say "I know" and watch him get flabbergasted and angry. If you just want to get rid of him quick, (what most women want) then a "thank you" and turning back around is perfect. Don't reward men who intrude on women's time. You did the right thing.

Have you ever stopped a man in public and said, "Extreme me, sir, but you are stunning."

Right. I thought not.

Of course it was a pickup attempt. And thats being charitable.

I've complimented strangers on the bus, in the elevator, on long lines at Whole Foods on their shoes, socks, bowtie, phone case.

And you've stopped men to let them know that they are "stunning"? Stopped them, when you weren't in conversation or anything?

34 year old female here. I love giving compliments to anyone and everyone, be they friends or strangers. So yes, to the grinchy PP, I do stop men, women, and dogs, to let them know they are handsome, gorgeous, have a great smile, fly kicks, or whatever. It makes my day to do it and I can only hope others aren't as stingy as you with compliments. Take the stick out of your ass and try being kind. Not everyone has an ulterior motive. Some of us just have good hearts.

I have men do this to me. I do the same thing. I make my smile awkward and say, "Thanks" and look away, back towards whatever I was doing. I find it truly intrusive and annoying.

You did the right thing here unless of course there was some attraction on your part.

If there was, you should have made eye contact, hold his gaze then smile and turn around.
