Here is a simple video that guys need to get right.

Under any context he's a complete creeper!

You need to track him down and file criminal charges against him for verbal rape!

You smile and you say thank you.

What's the big deal?

Serious question here:

How do you propose men introduce themselves to women to seek romantic interest, or is that only acceptable on Tinder/OKCupid/etc.? I mean, what is acceptable means of a man expressing romantic interest towards you?

Hello. And some small talk. Not rocket science. This guy's got no game.

He caught you off-guard, you said thank you and turned back around, ending the conversation. I don't think that's rude. He apparently didn't get mad or push it, so everything's all good.

You're overthinking this.

Why can't someone just say "hello"? Why the extreme compliment? ("Stunning"?) It just seems weird from the get-go. I would chat with a friendly stranger, but if you said I was stunning that would immediately make it awkward.

Say thank you and move on with your day with a smile. It's not hard. Are you unaccustomed to compliments?

Have you ever considered he might not have been trying to pick you up? I'm a straight female and sometimes compliment people when something about them strikes me - their great smile, a bracelet, their shoes, whatever - and I'm not trying to pick anyone up.

Have you ever stopped a man in public and said, "Extreme me, sir, but you are stunning."

Right. I thought not.

Of course it was a pickup attempt. And thats being charitable.

I routinely get stopped by strangers and told how beautiful I am or my daughter is. It's not uncommon for it to happen to women. I get stopped by straight men and gay men-you g and old. Young girls do it to. None of them are hitting on me. I'm an attractive women that smiles and makes eye contact so maybe people feel at ease enough to do this.

A woman stopped me (woman) on the street once and told me I was "shockingly beautiful" - Made My Day! I would love it if a man said that - especially if he looked normal and not like a serial killer - but you never know do you?

If you want to have fun, next time say "I know" and watch him get flabbergasted and angry. If you just want to get rid of him quick, (what most women want) then a "thank you" and turning back around is perfect. Don't reward men who intrude on women's time. You did the right thing.

Your mama failed to teach you some good manners.

I think the ugly women find it weard when someone compliment you. I love when strangers compliment me. I have been married for 20 years, so I am not looking for a guy. But it is so nice and makes your day so much better when you hear it from the strangers. Ladies, it is great to be a woman!

I would say thank you. I was also at Wegmans yesterday waiting in like a four hour line lol
