Donuts make me sick

Anonymous
They make me feel nauseous or like I'm going to throw up. I thought it was just in my head but recently I was traveling with a friend and we stopped at a famous donut place and planned to go out later. I got so nauseous I had to go back to our hotel early.

Donuts are the only baked good that does this to me.

Does anyone know why this would be the case?

Hmm strange. Is it just too much carbs all at once? Have you tried just one mini doughnut?

Yes I can have a small amount and not be as nauseous. I think I had one and a half donuts (as I said the place was famous so we got a few each and had some as a snack and then saved them for breakfast the next day- my friend's idea as she loves donuts) and by the time I put that last donut half down I felt so sick for hours. But I eat cake or sweets and they don't seem to affect me like donuts...

But do you think you eat the same caloric amount for other sweets? A standard (meaning large) doughnut with a glaze or jelly, etc, can easily run into the 400+ calories.

Hmmmm. Could be that. I love ice cream so I'm sure I've had more than 400 calories of ice cream before at one time. But I don't eat much gluten and I try to stay away from sugar in general so I suppose it could be a simple issue of that. Sometimes fried or very oily things make me feel slightly unwell so maybe it was that unholy trinity?

It's the oil. I can't eat them from anywhere but Walmart. Their chocolate covered donuts are THE best I have ever eaten. I don't belch or feel sick when I eat them.

There are 4 donut/pastry shops near me and they all make me feel sick.

Thinking back I think it is the oil. When i think about it, I remember getting sick a few weeks ago after I tried to eat this regional cuisine, which was like a deep fried tortilla puffed up and covered in sauce. My mom never fried things and I think it just doesn't agree with me.

Perhaps I will try the walmart donuts. Are they walmart brand? Now you have me intrigued

Triggered by fatty, rich foods.

Well like I said- I think I avoid most of those most of the time. Which is maybe why my body was so unused to the donuts?

You could try baking your donuts at home. It's not the same but there are some good recipes like pumpkin or apple cider donuts.
