I meant to add I have trouble with most fried food but I can handle some baked donuts. |

Sounds like it's a combination of very high sugar content + deep fried in oil. Sugar and grease, in short. And probably more the latter. If you're not used to eating deep fried food, having a deep fried product can suddenly seem way too much oil/grease all at once. I've had similar issues as I eat plenty of baked goods, but it's never deep fried and once in a blue moon I have something deep fried and it definitely does not sit well on my stomach.
A bowl of ice cream may also have a high calorie content but much less sugar and most of the calories are from the dairy. |
| I only know you can't be a cop. Sorry. |
| I can't eat donuts but it's because I'm intolerant to fresh yeast baked goods - migraine sufferers usually can't tolerate fresh bread or any fresh yeast products |
| Go get a physical just in case. My husband just had his gall bladder out and he thought he had eaten a bad oyster. That said, he had an upset stomach often and would could not pinpoint why except for rich/fatty foods. He thought it was because he was getting old! His stomach issues went away overnight once the gall bladder was removed. |
| It may be an ingredient that is common to donuts. I have the same reaction to sweet breads (zucchini, banana, carrot, etc) purchased from a certain very popular vendor at our local Farmer's Market. The breads are absolutely delicious to eat but within an hour I feel so nauseous, woozy and ill that I must lie down or fall down. No one else in the family is affected this way. I am otherwise very healthy and fit but I do have other food allergies (that affect me differently) so I think I just have some sort of low-grade reaction to an ingredient. And I have not had a problem eating the same types of sweet breads from other purveyors or that I make at home. |
| Me too, and I don't shy away from carbs or baked goods usually. |
| I don't know the answer to your question, but in college my dorm was near a donut shop. They started making donuts early in the am and, while my friends loved the smell in the air, it used to make me nauseous. I think it was the fried oil. |
That was my thought as well. I had mine out 20 years ago, and my "stomach" issues went away. |
| It could be the smell. I get an instant headache the second I smell or eat them. |
| AIDS |
The THOUGHT of eating a Walmart donut makes me sick. Just walking into a Walmart makes me sick. |
| Doughnuts also make me feel a little sick after. |
|
Nauseated. You mean nauseated.
Nauseous means you are making other people about to throw up. |
^ Thanks, I learned something.
