| It's supposed to be active beginning today at apsva.us/apsboundaries. |
| I wonder if they are not actually activating it until the meeting tonight. I can't get it to work either. |
| I can't get it to work either. I think PP is probably right. Maybe they'll activate it after the meeting tonight. |
| They are telling people to bring devices to the meeting so they can walk you through it. No thanks. I'll just livestream. |
| its working now. |

| Fun. I love maps and data. |
Me too! |
| If you're looking at proximity to school, the W-L to Wakefield changes seem pretty clear cut - 3507, 3509, 3510, 3706 or some similar combination. Yorktown moves are a little trickier since they all are fairly far from the school itself. |
But that will mean moving the largest planning units in play with economically disadvantaged students from W&L to Wakefield- not a good idea. (last column is economically disadvantaged.) 3505 <10 <10 <10 <10 <10 <10 10 <10 3506 19 <10 30 <10 <10 <10 <10 44 3507 10 32 91 <10 <10 <10 <10 122 3508 16 14 119 <10 <10 <10 <10 118 3509 <10 <10 38 <10 <10 <10 <10 41 3510 <10 20 40 <10 <10 <10 <10 61 3706 <10 10 25 <10 <10 <10 <10 33 |
| It's high school. Arlington is small. Just do a lottery. |
I'm going to try and look at it a few ways. 1. Eliminate the Yorktown island by connecting it 2. See if there are boundary shifts that would keep entire elementary schools funneled to the same HS 3. Geography. Yes, it's true that it means moving even more economically disadvantaged kids to Wakefield, but it really doesn't make sense to haul kids across the county when other neighborhoods are closer. |
| Yorktown island is not in play. |
Yes, the neighborhoods I quoted above are so close to Wakefield. Love to hear what others come up with! |
