| Also the writing is on the wall with ECNL not really caring about other "big" tournaments. They scheduled an ECNL event on Columbus going directly against previously big events like WAGS. Don't need to worry about playing "up" if you never leave the ecosystem. |
I heard it’s being discussed not a done deal yet. |
| Sooner the better... No question. |
You are dumb. All ECNL teams play up is the best solution for the transition year. Having to delay another year when you are ready is dumb. |
|
No downside here. Play up prepare for the future, No trapped players. Eveyone checges in 26 anyway.
|
If they’re all playing up, then no one is playing up |
I do not know what you are talking about. ECNL "play up" means all ECNL teams transit to SY teams by playing up without violating the US Soccer mandate for 25/26. |
| could someone explain why ECNL needs US Soccer? are they locked into them via a contract? legal? shouldn't ECNL be able to govern by themselves. why does us soccer have a say so in ECNL? just curious. |
YES!!! Backdoor SY!!! |
| So will there be no U13 team? Or will pre ECNL play up as well |
|
Even if they didn’t recommend it. If they just say “we’re going SY in 26/27 with 8/1” most clubs would just do it for next year anyway and play the teams up. For sure all the pre ECNL Ulittles who are all playing up anyway, and the 12s who are about to be trapped next year.
The only exceptions would be maybe teams with a legit chance at a national title next year. Everyone else would want to set themselves up for better performances the following year(s). Plus as everyone has stated it’s probably not that much player movement anyway. |
No U13 for ECNL the 2013/2012 would play U14. Is my guess. 2008/2009s would then occupy the vacant U18 group. |
Under this scenario U13 would be 8-1-13 to 7-31-14 next year. |
No not really - it doesn’t go both ways with the older teams in these cases. Quite naive and inexperienced to think that feelings of families are a consideration at all at that level of competition. |
| Will NPL likely follow what ECNL does? |
