It's a name that never should have been used.

So far it's about $8,200 which is 9,990,000 short. So many people wanted this done-where is the money?

I am donating via my exhorbitant local property taxes. I'm also paying for IB at that school. I just read that FCPS is setting up salad bars [complete with the equipment] at 141 elementary schools.

Imagine the fingers in that...chickpea slime or boogers.

You really aren’t donating via exhorbent property taxes. Here is what I discovered this week when I looked at my $750,000 house and my $6000 a year property tax bill. And tried to figure out why the Republicans were capping the property tax write off at $10,000. Our property taxes actually AREN’T VERY HIGH, relative to the value of our property. Go figure.

That is not the only source. We also get money from the state--you pay state income taxes. Businesses pay taxes, too. And, we also pay sales and utility taxes.

It's been in the newspapers and on television. Who do you think should get the email? Julianne Moore and Bruce Cohen? The Stuart community who wanted to keep the name--do you really think they are going to contribute? I'm guessing the Sandy Evans and Pat Hynes have already contributed whatever they plan to give.
Do you really think that many people will contribute?

There's been no increase since yesterday afternoon--maybe, it is not updated on weekends.

My prediction: unless their Hollywood friends give, they will not reach $100k-or anywhere near it.

The "changers" ad hoc committee insisted that there would be donations. Where are they?

If Moore and Cohen don't each donate at least $50K they will go down as some of the biggest Hollywood hypocrites in history.

Are you crazy? They should be splitting the bill between them or one of them should be stepping up and happily covering the cost. They can well afford $1M
They have completely forgotten all about this silly issue and probably have zero memory of even starting it.

The moment is gone and people have moved on. Maybe it's time to rethink whether the efforts to remove Confederate names is really meaningful or more of a vanity project for limo liberals...

Please be aware, too, that some people purchased their houses some time ago. While their property values have risen, their income may not have gone up. They might be retired, etc.

Frankly, though, I would not mind paying more taxes if the money were used more wisely. Paying a million dollars to change the name of a school was not wise. To put it more easily--it would take 166 homeowners paying $6000 in property taxes each to cover the cost of changing the name of Jeb Stuart High. Kind of sad.

Why isn't Julianne Moore being held accountable and paying

Huh? She didn't name the school after a racist traitor to protest desegregation. That was the school board.

Neither Cohen nor Moore ever raised any issue about the school's name as students and they are in a picture taken a few years ago wearing JEB Stuart Raider shirts and smiling. It was all about jumping on a bandwagon for them, and they've surely moved on to other issues. And you can bet that Moore never sent her kids to any school nearly as diverse as JEB Stuart.

Yes, they should pay for all the costs.

You're always welcome to send more money to FCPS. They will immediately misspend it.

They shouldn't have named the school after JEB Stuart, but it's beyond stupid to change it now after 60 years of tradition.

The school has seen some hard times, but they have a great administration now and the administration did NOT want to have to deal with the hassle of changing the school's name. All the traditions will get tossed aside, and most of the alumni will be alienated, all so that a handful of NAACP and Hollywood activists, along with a few local Democratic activists, can claim victory. I can guarantee you that the kids were much happier this weekend beating Falls Church, and winning the Bell Game, than they will EVER be about having to go to "Justice High School." Let's face it, that's a name for a juvenile detention facility, not a normal high school. Sandy Evans and Pat Hynes ought to be ashamed. Why don't we change the name of Madison next (Madison owned over 100 slaves that he didn't free) and see how that goes down in Hynes's district.

The donations have been stagnant since Friday. Does anyone know how often it is updated? Are the donations not coming or are they just slow to update the total?

Julianne Moore is a popular American actress, Julianne's net worth stands at $40 Million. Please let her know so that she can complete the last bit of donations.

They were updating the information towards the end of the day during the school week. Did you expect someone to come in over the weekend?

The Keepers are a bit hyper when it comes to the donations. Ultimately, it seems like most don't want people to donate because they'd rather complain about how much it will cost everyone else.

Did they complain about the school name ever? How are they related to the cost?
