I would agree with you but so far there is no lie. He knew about the conservatorship. He is lying now in his petition. You can’t put it your book a decade ago and now say you did not know.

Also how was he led astray? He did better at ole miss than he would have other places because they took care of him because of the family. When in college he got into a fight with a fellow player. During the fight Michael threw a desk or chair and it hit a toddler who was a kid of an assistant coach. Toddler was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Kid was ok. Ole miss coach got Sean. Sean paid a financial settlement to the assistant coach’s family. Sean also hired a lawyer who shot down the police investigation. Ole miss did not throw him out as they would have great player or not because of the book and the family. He was not led astray.

And he played nfl football and made millions for himself. Who knows what their motives were or why they were advised to do a conservativeship over adoption but there’s no reason to assume he’s a victim here.

Because clearly it was a non issue. It was all a con so Michael and the Tuohys could pull one over on the NCAA. That's it. It served it's purpose. He's been estranged from them for about a decade. As a practical matter, if your legal claim is significantly based on “I didn’t know X” and your autobiography says “X”, it’s going to be tough sledding for you. What, his ghostwriter was in on it? Any reasonable observer should, based on this evidence alone, conclude that the most likely scenario is that Oher is full of BS. Maybe not, but that’s the smart way to bet at this point, for those who need to have a view on the question.

But they didn’t rip off Oher. He wants their fast food money. Can you point to even one financial document that shows they made even a million off of him? The SEC filings show they made $200 million off the fast food franchise sales. The 501c3 charity records show they drew no income from the foundation. The movie studio records show the family got $700k total over 10+ Years which they claim was split but even if not that’s not big $$ for either family. So where is the actual evidence they made millions off him? And how would they have planned that when he was a teen? If he was just a business for them then so far he’s been their worst investment.

How much money is on the foundation? How much coming in and going out a year? What’s the overhead and administration expenses? Nonprofit isn’t just about taking salaries, for many it’s to dodge taxes, leasing racket, influence, seek favor, and swing grants to cronies.

I literally posted the link. It’s less than 200k a year. This family is a hundred millionaire fast food franchise family. You think people went to their Taco Bell’s because they knew about Oher? They pay more in taxes than they ever earned from this kid. They helped bring him into the big leagues. He thinks he deserves more from them while at the same time hating them I guess. This is where you are wrong. If they had adopted him, then in most people’s view he would be entitled to a share of their estate. I realize the relationship went sour and no one owes their kid an inheritance but it’s also clear the breakdown occurred over the non-adoption.

I think a lot of folks find it disgusting that they touted his adoption but obviously avoided that route to ensure he wasn’t part of their estate. That really undermines what an adoption is and doesn’t sit well with me personally. If they adopted him, he is a full fledged member of their family. But it sounds like, despite their talk about adoption, that’s not really what they wanted.

I’m arguing that if they did a conservativeship to take advantage of him, why is the only thing they’ve done not include him in what would have been a measly $100,000? That’s change to everyone involved. Which makes it seem a lot less likely it was malicious. If they controlled his money while he was in the NFL or took that, it would be clearly malicious. And I’m not even saying they’re angels, I’m saying it’s just not as clear as some posters want it to be. But that’s not dramatic enough for an Internet forum I guess.

It’s not just about money. First and foremost, they basically stole his identity from him and his ability to make decisions so let’s get that out of the way. As conservators, they choose or approve everything he does as an able-bodied grown man with no mental health issues or drug issues. A conservator is granted if and only if a conservatoree is incapacitated, or if the conservatoree willingly signs his rights away. They made sure he did by saying “it’s the same thing as adoption for big people. It’s the only way you can be a part of the family!” So disgusting.
Second, as conservators they can green-light their friend’s book that eventually became the movie without his consent and can heavily influence the narrative. The actor didn’t even meet Michael until AFTER the movie. Hmm?
Third, the jig would have been up a long time ago if they went directly for his NFL earnings. They didn’t NEED to go there.
This is not just about money, although they clearly profited more than what has come out so far. They started getting local attention starting at Ole Miss and eventually went for fame with the book. They are even giving interviews to random publications as of yesterday! It’s pathetic. Their own son says he has every right to be upset.

Couple of major things wrong with your post

First, Michael Lewis needed no one to green light his book. He paid no money. Anyone can write a book on anyone. No payment was ever made or waiver sought. Same as a reporter does not need your consent to use your name. So let’s get that out of the way.

Second, what you say about a conservatorship is true. But they did none of those things. They did nothing with it. They did not use it to control honor order him. It looks like they sent it to the ncaa and then never dealt with it. So none of the stuff you cite happened. That is most likely why Michael had to sign away the film rights because they did not use the conservatorship.

Also how was he led astray? He did better at ole miss than he would have other places because they took care of him because of the family. When in college he got into a fight with a fellow player. During the fight Michael threw a desk or chair and it hit a toddler who was a kid of an assistant coach. Toddler was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Kid was ok. Ole miss coach got Sean. Sean paid a financial settlement to the assistant coach’s family. Sean also hired a lawyer who shot down the police investigation. Ole miss did not throw him out as they would have great player or not because of the book and the family. He was not led astray.

And he played nfl football and made millions for himself. Who knows what their motives were or why they were advised to do a conservativeship over adoption but there’s no reason to assume he’s a victim here.
