Succession - Season 4

She of all people should know that there is no way they will relinquish or share any power with her, once ensconced. Why didn't she fight this?! It makes me so mad, the way they spoke to her. I can only assume that between her father's death and her pregnancy she was so overwhelmed that she just threw up her hands. It's very unfortunate and I think she will regret this later. It's clear that she's already unhappy with it.

I think you hit the nail on the head- she is grieving her dad who died 24 hours ago, she is in the middle of a divorce while secretly pregnant, she finally started to have a loving relationship with her brothers for a few weeks and now they’re trying to take her power away - I think she was just overwhelmed and didn’t have the mental energy to fight it. Also maybe part of her now wants to please her brothers since they had this good thing going on that she doesn’t want to lose.

She is spiraling so rapidly this season that I almost wonder if she will commit suicide. To the person talking about Logan and his siblings- his brother hates him and his sister is dead. So it would be fitting if Kendall owned the company, Roman hated him, and shiv was dead.

She knew she was going to lose that argument so she really had no choice.

Just to play devil's advocate, Shiv has sort of had uniformly terrible ideas about what to do since Logan died. She wanted to keep the plane in the air until they had made a decision? Terrible. When discussing the merger with the GoJo guy she was saying things that were hitting wrong (honestly they should have just let Roman take that call, he's the best negotiator of all of them and the best reader of people). Has Shiv really been contributing in a positive way since Logan's death, besides offering sibling support? What good ideas has she had?

Kendall was right to say they needed to be careful and that their decisions would be scrutinized. Most of his ideas about getting doctors on the line etc were decent. Roman had good instincts re what to say on the phone with the GoJo guy (and what not to say, frankly). He was clever to dis-empower Gerri with the threat that her firing was coming. Roman read Tom and Greg correctly; may have been trying to get Kerri's info to have a better understanding of what Logan was thinking about him when he died and why he had asked him to do the firing. Is Roman's weakness that he still cares about people, e.g., Kerri, Gerri, not wanting to tarnish his father's name, etc, while to Kendall all these people can be decimated (and maybe that's what makes Kendall most like Logan and so maybe most likely to win)?

I don't think Shiv cares about people that much, but she is still pregnant with the child of a man she doesn't seem to love, so there's that.

+1

As soon as Roman agreed to Kendall’s proposal, it was over for Shiv. Two against one.

I don’t think that’s necessarily so. If she had thrown her vote in with the “old guard” it would have been more difficult for Roman and Kendall to seize power.

Greg is us. He's the outsider trying to figure out how to fit in. Basically decent kid who is being corrupted by something he doesn't really understand.

I think Kerri really did love Logan and sadly may have been the only one who did.

I don't think the kids are grieving their father, I think they are grieving the loss of the hope that someday if they just do the thing he approves of, they will get from him what they have always wanted.

Shiv’s name (Princess) was erased in the addendum. I wonder if she will find that out…perhaps someone in the old guard turns on K&R.

Tom, on the other hand, is trying his best to be "nice," including asking Shiv to be nice to him, genuinely (it seemed)

Tom did that to get back with Shiv because Kendall had completely dismissed him in an earlier scene and the rest of the c-suite had on the plane before that. The only thing Tom had was Logan’s loyalty because Tom had told him about the kids’ plan. Now he’s done unless he can get back with her.

Did anyone else notice that when Kerri was freaking out and picking up her sad belongings she mumbled something about she and Logan getting married and she said something like "he even wrote something down". I wondered if that paper they found also had something about that and they erased it? Didn't they say things were "penciled in"?

She was so desperate to get upstairs - maybe that is what she was wanting to get?

When did we learn this? I don’t remember that.

Where did you see that? I do think I recall them saying princess but can’t remember exactly how

No, it was that the old guard (Frank, Karl, Gerri) said they didn't want the company to fall into the hands of the princes (Roman and Ken). People misheard that word. And Princess is not Shiv's nickname--it's Pinky.

To what end? The old guard certainly wasn't going to side with her.

DP, but to echo what the poster above said, Shiv has a lot of terrible instincts and a lot of arrogance. Go back and watch the episodes where Logan brought her in ostensibly to groom her to take over. It's kind of a train wreck, with the worst moment being Shiv exclaiming, "FFS Dad. Tell them it's me" at Nan Pierce's dinner table right in the middle of trying to woo the Pierce clan to sell to them.

Yes, I'm sure she did love the billionaire octogenarian whose friends, if he had any, and family all thought was a complete A-hole. Absolutely. Struck by Cupid's arrow.

I also have a sweet bridge overlooking lower Manhattan for sale, PP - look me up! I'll give you a great deal on it.
