The PP's valid point is that politics alone will not solve the problem of gun violence. |

AGAIN and AGAIN, there are millions of kids around the world who come from broken homes and troubled backgrounds, who are bullied and harrassed. BUT, they don't live in the US, so they don't have access to assault rifles that they can buy legally at the gun shop or at gun shows. What good is an algorithm if Republicans aren't willing to restrict gun purchases? |
Because it would have missed the Columbone shooters. |
Right?! Why do my kids need metal detectors and active shooter drills as the price to pay for people to be able to buy AR-15s and high capacity ammo online?! I am not okay with this. I don’t consent to this. And the shooter in this case had freaking BODY ARMOR. Why does a civilian need body armor and lots of ammo? What lawful reason is this even possible? Also what is so special about the second amendment that people feel entitled to whatever guns they want with little effort? Every other constitutional right (privacy, first amendment, etc.) is not absolute. We put reasonable limitations on rights all the time. Guns should be no exception. The problem is the guns, not that the schools and kids aren’t adequately prepared to be shot up. |
Well, since "Thoughts and Prayers" haven't worked at all for the last 20 years, maybe Republicans should try to pass a bill to limit sales of assault rilfes. |
Amen. |
I'm sure you realize most women work, and therefore home schooling isn't really an option for them. Between Roe being overturned and schools becoming untenable, I'm kind of feeling like this might be the whole point. Keep em barefoot, pregnant and at home. |
I hope she is rots in hell someday where she’ll be haunted by the screams of dying children crying out for their moms and dads. Seriously, F this lady. |

We can all wring our hands as much as we want. Nothing is going to change. It's just part of mainstream American male culture. We will be seeing this our whole lives, and our children will too. I have zero hope anything is going to change. Even in states with stricter gun laws, like Maryland, it is easy enough to get one if you really want to. For example, a high school student in moco had a ghost gun a few months ago that he threatened someone with - he ordered the parts off the internet. All the real power is with the NRA.
Additionally, we will have our reproductive rights curtailed slowly, no matter how much we protest. The restricting of congressional seats has made our power to control the courts very limited. All the real power is with the Republican Christian right. Finally, health care costs will continue to rise, astronomically. We don't want to finance anything like single payer, and we allow pharmas and health insurance companies and physicians (yes, I said it! As I am one) to always make sure they get paid very high salaries (despite these fields not making nearly as much money in other western nations). All the real power is with Pharma and the AMA. Basically feeling very hopeless and really hoping my kids get into college outside of this country. |
| They need to publish photos of the classrooms with the bodies in it. Otherwise it’s just a heady debate. The visceral response of seeing what these weapons do to bodies - especially kids needs to be a part of this. Not in abstract. |
| I do not understand how the same party that fights to curtail abortion rights, "a right for life", is also the same party that defends the right to gun ownership with their last breath. At least the Pope is consistent. |
"We" cannot change a culture that approximately half of us don't want to change. |
Because it’s about control over women’s bodies, not the babies. |
I’m sure you realize it’s not only mothers who can homeschool. Stop being so sexist. |
