Best places to live with easy driving commute to Georgetown

DH will be working at Georgetown. I'm a SAHM. Looking for an easy commute to Georgetown with good public schools. $2m home budget.

Really depends on what you want. Walkability? Density? Big yard? What does "good public school" mean to you? Do you want to be in DC?

Without any of that information, I'll recommend (in DC):

Forest Hills, close to Conn. Ave. than the park: big houses, big yards, good schools, walkable. 15 minutes to Gtown.

Chevy Chase DC, north of Fessenden, south of Military, between Wisconsin and Connecticut. Beautiful houses, possibly smaller lots than Forest Hills but probably also a little more walkable. Good schools. 10-15 minutes to Gtown.

(The debate over "good public schools" will commence shortly. And it will almost certainly derail your thread.)

I would live in Georgetown or right across the bridge in Arlington.

I'd probably go with McLean. More $2M properties than Arlington and better public schools than Georgetown.

Good commute to GTown is hard to find! Look in Rosslyn/Courthouse/Clarendon area. 2m could work well in Clarendon and the schools will be good.

You don't get uniformly good public schools in Georgetown - the middle school in particular is weak. Most of your neighbors with kids will be sending them to privates.
