What constitutes residency fraud

Parent at a WOTP school and I know a parent that is using their deceased mothers address for their children to attend the school. The family lives and owns a home in southwest and are not registered voters of ward 3. Is this fraud when they are DC tax paying residents.

That's boundary fraud not residency fraud.

It is a DCPS issue not an OSSE issue. Report to your principal.

Yes, it's breaking the residency rules. Not as bad as Maryland or Virginia fraud, but they are not supposed to be able to do that.

They live in SW DC and presumably pay DC taxes at work. I'd consider it "boundary fraud" and not residency fraud.

Getting sent back to your IB school.

It's hard to imagine DCPS trying to collect from anyone for boundary fraud. They'd have to argue that attending one school is worth more than attending another. That's a political can of worms they wouldn't want to open.

Ok OP, here is what I consider residency fraud.

Just the other day, I noticed a navy blue Honda Pilot with Maryland plates pull out of Janney (after picking up a kid) and I knew in my gut this wasn't right. So I followed this car into Maryland and it pulled into a driveway very close to Sligo Creek golf course. I watched very carefully as a mother and son got out of the Honda Pilot and sauntered into their house.

That my friend, is residency fraud. And I have had enough.
