Why so many Latinos in Fairfax County?

Anonymous
Why are there so many non English speaking Latinos in Fairfac County? Is there some sort of deportation amnesty going on? And are they all on welfare/housing assistance/food stamps, because how the heck can they afford to live here?
Anonymous
Because there are jobs for them, and because it is a nice place to live.

They are not all on public assistance. They live in the neighborhoods you probably never go to, and have lower standards of living than you do.

But you probably already knew this.

Because they want to send their kids into good quality AAP programs, just like you do.

The same reasons whites people are in the suburbs.

Rent even for shitty garden apartments are sky high - not in the affordable range for even well-paid working class.

You mean the families whose kids can't meet proficiency levels? Right.

Kids share bedrooms, parents sleep in living room on couch. Extended families live together in one house. Pretty much just less space per person.

Arlington costs too much.

This. There are some peop on here who can't contemplate sharing bedrooms and bathrooms, but this is how many make it work.

FFX county is among the top 5 destination counties in the entire USA for recent arrivals.

When DHS apprehends an alien, they can direct/detain/release them anywhere they please. They have chose FFX.

FFX county seems to have become Obama/Jarrett's personal favorite Petri dish for social expiraments.

First, it's true that illegals are being resettled here from other parts of the country. But second, Fairfax is a "sanctuary city," which means officials refuse to comply with federsl law regarding illegals - and do not turn them over to the Feds. This alome makes the county a draw for illegals. Related to that, there has been a pronounced rate of gang-related crime, especially recently, from gang members (who primarily come from El Salvador).

The topic of illegal immigration has been a hot one for Virginia, and pretty much falling along party lines. Last year, Virginia's Democratic AG (or was it the deputy AG) condoned sanctuary cities, and this spring, there was legislation advanced by three lawmakers (Republicans) to crack down on this, among other issues.

In my mind, there is no excuse for states to violate federsl law, and sanctusry cities should be abolished. This is another case of political correctness run amok, and the interests of law-breaking illegal immigrants are given priority ove the safety of Americsn lives. The case of Steinle (can't recall her first name) in California is a prime - and horrendous - example.

People from el Salvador have been coming to the DC area since the 1970s

It's the number 2 destination after CA

This is not a new issue its been going on for almost 50 years now

Many Salvadoran Americans reside in the Greater Los Angeles area, including Orange County, California, the Inland Empire and San Diego; The Washington Metropolitan Area: Washington, D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia, is currently the only metropolitan area in the entire country where Salvadorans are the majority among Hispanics, most concentrated in the suburbs in Northern Virginia and Maryland. In Washington D.C., 32 percent of the Hispanic population are Salvadorans, the largest in the city. Salvadorans settled in the neighborhoods of Mount Pleasant, Adams Morgan, and Columbia Heights.[18] Most of these Salvadorans came from the eastern departments of San Miguel and La Union,[19] especially from the Salvadoran towns Chirilagua and Intipuca.[20][21] Formerly known as Arlandria, a neighborhood between Alexandria and Arlington in Virginia is now referred to as Chirilagua, due to the many Salvadorans living there from that particular town.[22] Salvadorans are the largest immigrant population in Washington D.C. metropolitan area.[23]

The poverty rate in APS is higher than in FCPS. Have you ever ventured south of Lee Highway?

Yes. Sanctuary 'city'. When Prince William stopped that nonsense, their illegals came here.
