OK to wear unlined dresses to work?

Anonymous
I work in a casual office. Is it OK to wear unlined dresses to work? They are completely opaque and not tight, but I worry they may be too form fitting if they are unlined. Thanks!

Of course!

Unlined is ok, form fitting isn't great.

Sure. I wear unlined all the time. I try to get them not inappropriately tight. You can still see that I have a chest and a waist and a butt though.

OP, let me just tell you as a favor to you and women everywhere that they are not opaque. I see at least half a dozen women on my way to work every day that are not wearing slips and you can see EVERYTHING. It looks HORRIBLE. I really want to talk to them and teach them to wear a slip unless they have a FULLY lined skirt.

You can also see the cut and color of your underwear and the outline of your thighs and you-know-what once you go outside. May not show in your mirror at home, but honey, it ain't professional and it ain't pretty.

It really depends on the fabric. Those thin summer jersey dresses? Totally see through. A sturdier fabric is ok, though.

Denim is the only thing. I promise you.

Linen and cotton are totally see through as well. Really tired of seeing it all.

I'm a professional woman in her 40s and I don't know what you're talking about.

I wear dozens of "unlined" dresses. They are all dark or opaque colors/patterns. They are fairly thick poly blend washable things. While there is a tiny hint of VPL (visible panty line) or the equivalent with my bra, I'm 100% sure you can't tell what color they are, or see my thighs or anything else.

Is this a thing? Are women REALLY wearing slips under their dresses in the 90 degree heat as they walk upwards of a mile to get to and from metro/office/kids etc???

I'm not trying to be snarky.

Thank you - I was going to say similar. Really - didn't any of you have mothers?!

Why are you wearing poly blend in the heat ?

You should wear a slip, yes. I can see through 0% of my husband's clothes...

Seriously. I'm 37 and I haven't worn a slip in about 30 years, even though I'm from the South.
