| I've been dating a guy that brought up the exclusive talk tonight. I was thrilled but then he told me had sex with someone around the third week of us dating. I know we weren't exclusive, and I have no claim to him, but I can't help but feel hurt. I don't understand why he would have sex with another woman if he was so interested in me. He said it was early on ( dating for two months ) that didn't mean anything. It has to mean something for him to ask me to be exclusive, and I know I shouldn't care but I do. He said he told me because he didn't want to start off our relationship with any secrets. I appreciate his honesty, and feel that counts for something. I am hesitant to say yes. I don't know if I'm being too dramatic because we had only been on about 3 dates by that point. Would you say yes, or walk away? |

How long ago was this?
FWIW, he made a total mistake by telling you. |
| Sorry, see it's been 2 months now. I'd tell him you are hesitant and will let him know when you're ready. I'm the same way, OP. If I like a guy enough to go on a date with him, I pretty much don't like anyone else in the world enough to date them. It's not a great way to be, but it's how I am and makes me feel gross about a dude not being that into me at any stage of knowing me. |
+1. It was in bad taste and intended to make him feel superior to you. |
|
3 dates??!!
1) Dont overthink this - it probably wont make it to 30 dates 2) But, keep your eyes open for other hes just not that into you clues |
| I would want to know how far he was into a relationship with her when he started dating you. |
| Op here. He slept with a woman he was casually dating right before our third date. He said he hasn't been on any dated or slept with another woman since then. We have been dating for two months ( roughly 10 dates). I don't think he did it to feel superior to me. He said he didn't want to start anything off with a lie, or I someone found out he slept with someone when we first met, and it make it seem like he was covering it up. He's a good guy. I think I may be overreacting because we had only been on two dates by then. I was dating ( never had sex) with another guy before I stopped seeing him around date five or six. |
| I would be exclusive if I wanted to be or not if I didn't want to be. I don't really understand why this is an issue. You can always break up with him if you want to later. |
OP here. He had 3 or 4 dates with her they slept together. We had gone on two dates by then. He said he realized he liked me too much when we had our third date and told her he wasn't interested. We have been dating now for two months ( roughly 10 dates) and he's now asking to become more serious. |
| Yeah I'd let it go. At that point he had no idea how serious you guys were going to be. |
The point is should I be upset that he had sex with a woman he was casually dating when we has just met? |
I can't imagine being upset over that. |
|
No one can tell you if you should be or not.
You feel what you feel. You can either choose to move past it or move on. |
+1 |
No. You just met. But, at the same time, just know he already has options or back ups. He is probably not hard pressed for you, at least not yet anyway. So keep your radar tuned to whether he is really all in later into the relationship, as opposed to more casual. |
