Springfield is just the name of one of the magisterial districts. It’s like asking how can McLean be in the Dranesville District when it’s all the way across the county from Dranesville. Chantilly and Centreville HS are on the western edges of the Springfield district but most of the kids attending those schools live in Sully District. |
I think she was only voted in because a huge portion of Sully is Indian. |
The Crossfield families want to stay at SLHS, they have posted that on her facebook page. They are fine with the status quo and could careless about being at Oakton or Skyview. |
I do not recall any competition. She had the Fairfax DNC endorsement. That is all it takes. There was a GOP endorsed candidate. I don't know anything about her. Doesn't appear she had much funding. The Fairfax DNC is good about that. And, the SB members give money to each other. Frisch and his California donations fund a lot of our SB members. |
Yes, especially given how bad Reid is at her job. |
This really does not make sense. The Sully areas getting Skyview are not staying at Chantilly--they are going to Skyview except for the ones staying at Oakton. |
You clearly don't know the boundaries. Anything West of West Ox Rd/Folkstone Rd is in Maren's constituency. Look at the map someone posted. That means Crossfield itself, the neighborhoods across the street from it, Money's Corner, one side of Folkstone, Glenbrooke Woods, Oakton Woods, Franklin Oaks, etc. are ALL under Meren. Oakton Woods and Franklin Oaks in Scenario 1 would be zoned to Skyview. |
They actually split Oak Hill elementary in Scenario 2 and have a small amount of Oak Hill kids going to Chantilly instead of Skyview, so unless they fix the new split feeder they created there would be some Sully areas still at Chantilly. |
True. Forgot to put that caveat in. But I will be surprised if they don't change that. Everything I hear in the Oak Hill community--including that section--wants to stay together. Even though they would gladly stay at Chantilly, that does not appear likely. Oak Hill community assumes it will be at Skyview. I mean, they can look at a map. |
| I think Scenario 3 will swap the Franklin Farm portion of Oak Hill that got screwed in Scenario 2 with the non-Franklin Farm portion of Crossfield that got screwed in Scenario 1. It will be an even swap at Franklin MS, and nobody seems to care that Oakton is overcrowded, so it will just give 50 or so kids from those neighborhoods back. |
Pretty sure PP meant Fox Mill Woods since the statement says that the Crossfield famlies want to stay at SLHS. I've seen that indicated on Meren's Facebook. |
Plus one to this. Crossfield parents near the Reston side want SLHS and they get that in both scenarios. Carve outs from rest of the crossfield in scenario 1 are under Meren's district and Seema's district.

Yes, and I think they will send the Oak Hill contingent to Carson. So many go there already. |
There are parts of Sully going to Skyview. There are OTHER parts of Sully staying at Chantilly or Centreville. It seems unlikely any of these areas will have a big beef with Dixit. |
Oak Hill parent here. Yep that’s our hope that all of Oak Hill ends up at Carson and Skyview. The families I know that are walkers to Franklin are fine with the switch to Carson since it’s so close and they would prefer that the kids stay together as a cohort. Otherwise I am guessing the county will be looking to flip them to Lees Corner in the next comprehensive boundary in 5 years to eliminate the new split feeder being created. |
