What you saw in that text chain was principled debate and policy-making at exactly the moment when the officials thought they were communicating privately. We should feel joy at the grown-ups leading our country, putting the fear of God into Houthis and Europeans.

Goldberg never should have stayed on that thread to eavesdrop. His actions were completely unprofessional. He needs to be prosecuted so completely that he and his family are ruined financially, educationally and professionally no matter what the actual final decision in court.

To those supposed military people complaining that they were exposed and “endangered”: GROW UP. Do your jobs right and maintain OpSec so that you have nothing to worry about beyond killing the enemies.

Several months ago I was looped into a group chat of mothers and girls from a ballet academy planning a bus trip to NYC. OMG the tragadeigh names of the girls. Signal is approved for govt use no different than making a phone call and more secure than a text?

Signal is permissible to use for work purposes provided that any decisions made are also recorded through formal channels.
