who is trying to create another 29 team?

The thing at Stone Ridge is for YJMA. YJMA has been trying (unsuccessfully) for years to build up that program in this area. With my oldest a few years ago I got the sales pitch including the benefits of the YJ name brand and recruiting history up north. It did not work then, and I don't see why it would be different this time.

Even with all the depth at 2029, YJ couldn't even field a team in that age group. It will be interesting to see how many tryout and if they can field team this time. Are they hoping to pull Stars, Pride and 3D players that Capital didn't select? Their 2026 had some good players with mediocre recruiting success as a team. Their 2026 results didn't mirror the success of their 2025 team. They don't list a 2027 team and the 2028 team is ranked #186. That's a huge gamble for high school players that want to play in college.

100% inaccurate. YJMA has NEVER sold a DMV team and only got its 2030 from MCE. DMV2029 is all new for girls who want to play in HS/college. YJ can get into any tournament and is the most well-connected club in the DMV. Great option. The clinic is open to anyone without commitment. See the flyer on their IG. No hate.

100% inaccurate? It's on the dang YJMA Instagram page on YJMA letterhead saying "YJMA Is forming and elite travel team . . . "

Are you saying it's not YJMA? Or just saying this time they are really serious?

Good luck!

The inaccuracy is obviously the claim that the club has been trying to build a DMV team up for years. You seem to be worried that this new team will do well and compete with your program. By HS, the ranking success of a team is based on the strength of its players. That is not as important for recruiting if you are a great student and strong player from a club that gets into the right tournaments and get the looks from college coaches.

Not the previous poster. I’d like to understand how you think there’s enough elite players in the DMV to form a competitive 2029 team. I say it can’t be done. And don’t try to convince us that YJMA can develop players because their 2030 team is ‘very good’, because they aren’t. They are good relative to other 2030 teams in the DMV who are B level teams except for BLC.

According to the flyer on IG, it is a high school travel tournament team. HS is all about access to the best tournaments- and playing in games where coaches will come. Doesn’t matter about the other years that are mediocre.

There enough elite players in the DMV to form multiple competitive 2029 teams. It's a super strong year. Let's leave the 2030s off this thread, BLC dad.

Here is an entire thread from a few years ago about YJ trying to build up a DMV team. It may have failed then, but trust us this time.

Exactly! People would be foolish not to join this team.

"Trust us this time" - who are you? BLC dad or the MD-DC dad? Why do you even care? Are you afraid of losing potential teammates to YJ? There are so many great 29s - plenty to go around. That thread is from five years ago and is not about the DMV. YJMA has only had VA teams (in Gainesville) until two years ago. It's not failed either - it's had a good number of D1, D2, and D3 recruits - which is pretty great considering how poorly ranked their teams have been!

BLC or MD-DC Dad? Are there any other teams in the area Sherlock?
