Has anyone in U11 or U12 heard about the switch from VPSL to NCSL? |
No and we are new to the club and frankly, don't want to be the person to ask. I don't think our team has a manager. We haven't heard from the coach at all, and don't even know what tournaments we are doing. Its a whole lot of no information. |
Isn't it kind of late to not have a team manager? |
Yes. |
both the first u11 and u12 teams are registered for herndon's dulles tournament. so at least you know they will be in that. |
Same for our team in an older age group. Not sure what the deal is with this club but we had all this information much sooner with our previous club. Including tournaments for the whole year and at least a welcome message from the coach. |
We have heard from our team manager and coach, and know the fall practice schedule and the first tournament (Dulles National). The second tournament last year was not until October for our team.
I would be really frustrated if I had no information about the upcoming season!!! |
Has anyone had a parents meeting scheduled with the coach? |
Longtime Herndon parent here-I think honestly something strange is going on with the club admin or management.
I checked all the pre-season tournaments are teams usually play in and NO Herndon teams are registered yet for any of the normal events our teams play in: Loudoun Premier, OBGC. And some of the teams that should be signed up for Herndon's own tournament are missing from the applied teams list (and it's Herndon's tournament, all the teams U15 and below are supposedly required to participate). We paid almost a $600 "tournament fee" for tournaments and coach travel expenses and have no tournaments scheduled yet. To assess that fee acurately, the club would have to know which tournaments each team was doing in advance. |
A $600 tournament fee should cover at LEAST 7 tournaments, probably more if they are local.

Thank you for telling me! I didn't even know there was a Herndon tournament. |
If they play BRYC, LMVSC, DCSC, PWSI, Villarreal, VSA they will be fine. There are only 1 or 2 RL clubs that are really good. |
Last year at a different club we had a coach who initially impressed us with how well they communicated before the season started. We had high hopes but it was a real disappointment when it came to actual coaching. I’ll take a good coach who isn’t a great communicator over a bad coach who communicates well. We have only had one coach good at both, and it was a rec team! The VPSL season ended very early last spring for the “pre” ages, like first weekend in May. NCSL teams seemed to be playing into June. And different teams played different numbers of games which made rankings a mess. Lots of lopsided scores too. I am not convinced club to club scheduling is appropriate for younger age groups where development is supposedly the focus. A matchup that makes sense for two clubs’ U15 players might be awful for U11. Who learns from a 10-0 game? |
