After seeing the posts about the acne spray made of probiotics, DD broke open a capsule of Primal Defense probiotic (looks like dirt) and made a facial mask out of water and the probiotic. She left it on for awhile (not too long in case of reaction). The next morning her face had cleared considerably including 2 huge ones as well as multiple little ones. It was truly amazing and fast-acting. We had the probiotic for other purposes but it works for skin too!
Can you post a link to the product?
Please, little more info, did she mix it with water? How much water? Or she mixed it with something else? Thank you.
Sounds great! Thanks for posting. I imagine that any probiotic capsule would have similar results.
I wonder if it will help my wrinkles.

Probiotics are great -- she might want to take them orally, as well, because the microbiota in the gut help to populate the skin.
She should also avoid harsh soaps or beauty products. I'd recommend an organic castille soap and water only, and an EWG-safe-rated lotion. Glad to hear this helped her! |
Mother Dirt is a probiotic spray I've been using since January every morning after I get out of the shower (I use Retin-A at night). I also drink kombucha & take a probiotic every morning. I don't rec'd soap for your DDs skin like PP. I wash my face with baking soda (exfoliant), then a mixture of honey/tea tree oil. I'm not anti commercial products (have tried it all, I promise, from proactiv to dermalogica) but this regimen has made my skin 75% better. Kind of amazing.
How long did your daughter leave it on for?
Op here. Heading home from beach. Will answer questions later tonight so please check back in a few hours.

OP here, Mother Dirt ads are what gave me the idea for her to try it. Mother Dirt is just too expensive for us. Plus I read about it on a forum for the illnesses our other DK has. As PP suggested, she is taking probiotics internally as well. We all take them off and on with DK who has to take daily.
She is 16 and since last summer has had horrible breakouts which she spreads unfortunately. She is also in an activity where she sweats alot. Here's the link to Primal Defense probiotics which our other DK has to take daily while on long term antibiotics. They are a super high quality probiotic that look brown like dirt in a gelatin capsule, https://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Primal-Defense-Capsules/dp/B000GWG8FS She also did wash her face with Cetaphil and rinse well with water before she did the mask. She then took 1 capsule, pulled it apart, added some tap water to make a paste and spread it on her face. 1 cap was enough and she had a bit left over. She sent me a snapchat and it looked like a thin coating with more on the 2 trouble spots - looked like cysts. She says she left it on for 30-60 minutes - didn't pay close attention to time I guess. She is away training for the summer so I had told her to rinse off immediately if she felt it was irritating in any way. She said she had no reaction. She then did not wash her face until 24 hours later and just used Cetaphil only. I agree with PP who said you have to avoid overwashing with harsh soaps. The probiotics must have time to grow and repopulate on the skin. She said it was visibly much better the next morning (all redness was gone she said) and I could tell that next night when we face timed. The worst 2 spots got a bit flaky and that's it. Night 2 and it was almost completely cleared up. I told her she could try it 2-3 times a week and see how it went and to focus on that week before her period when she has the most trouble. We are both thrilled that it seems to be working miracles thus far. She is doing it again tonight which will be time #2 with 2 nights off. This is the 3rd night since she first tried it. I would love to hear if others try it and how it goes. |

OP again, there are many types of probiotics and we use 3 different ones for our sick DK - the other two are white capsules and I wouldn't try them just because they aren't in gelatin and are hard to get down further into the gut. I do think for this purpose I would go with the ones that look like dirt and are in gelatin capsules you can open. Also, some have dairy generated strains so if you have dairy allergies, you should avoid.
I don't know of other brands that look like dirt but I'm sure there are some. One other medical type probiotic I've heard about is VSL #3 but again, not sure what it looks like. |
Thank you. I will try on my DD.
0P here. She sent me another picture this morning and skin is completely 100% percent cleared up! She did another mask last night. Never would've guessed this would be so effective. Hope it continues.
I'm pretty certain this is an ad, and I'm reporting it.
Thanks for posting OP, will give this is a try too.
