Acne -homemade treatment and it worked wonders

Thanks, I will have to try this with some capsules I have. I have tried the Mother Dirt spray and agree it's too expensive. I use a DIY mix of calamine lotion (the real stuff with no chemicals, which you can get at Target) and precipitated sulfur, and it works pretty well.

OP here - speaking of GI illnesses, we discovered - again through our ill DK - that activated charcoal is amazing for sopping up and warding off GI illnesses and intestinal gas for that matter. I got some online in capsule form and will take on trips from now on in case of food poisoning. It is used in hospitals with certain kinds of drug overdoses so it makes sense.

Can anyone update me on results if they tried this since reading it here?

OP are you still around? I am thinking of trying this and wanted to know if it is still working for your daughter.

PP again. I had some bad zits appear out of nowhere that were really plaguing me. I bought some antibiotic capsules at Walgreens (cheapest brand I could find) and tried this -- just mixed a capsule with water and spread on the zits over night. Next morning they were almost all gone and seoncd day they were completely gone (just a little red color left). Better success than I've ever had with other products.

I bought mother dirt products for my daughter and found it to be a waste of money; more marketing ploy with appealing packaging for teens. Don't buy it, please. What worked for my daughter and myself, when I experienced a bought of adult acne from a bacterial infection, was tea tree oil. It's got a really pungent aroma that takes some getting use to but it kills the bacteria in skin and dries the skin.

I posted earlier. My son had a bad patch of acne right around his nose that wouldn't clear up with any treatment. I gave him 2 nights of the probiotic solution just in that one spot and the red area has gone down significantly. It just took 2 capsules of drug store, cheap probiotics -- maybe 33 cents each? I think there may be something to this homemade remedy -- maybe it won't fix every case of acne but we've had 3 out or 3 positive experiences this week.

OP here. DD is back and hasn't used probiotics since she got back. Her skin is currently pretty clear. She recently switched to using Trader Joe's tea tree cleanser after spritzing tea tree oil and water on her skin the past few weeks and also feels that is helping.I'll see if she's willing to try it again around her period. As soon as she does the probiotics again, I'll try to post.

Glad to hear the cheap capsules work too!

So, I tried this recently when I had a breakout. Just the cheap probiotic (Culturelle). Emptied a capsule and made a paste. I was skeptical but, except for one pimple I had been picking, the rest were much less noticeable and red the next morning. I was amazed.

O.K. so I'm trying this tonight with my teens. I bought the Target brand of probiotics so we'll see! I'll share the results!

Tried this with my tween who has noticeable hormonal acne. First dose yesterday, left it on for a few hours. Redness is way better, and she said her skin feels better too. We're doing another treatment tonight. This is possibly the most helpful thing I've ever read on dcum!

What brand did you use? I tried the generic Target probiotic and it hasn't seemed to help at all.

PP here - I used the generic Target one. We did the second dose last night, left it on a little less than an hour. Her skin today is noticeably clearer - there is still a bit of redness, especially in her problem areas, but the improvement is more than I've seen even when she has used topical prescriptions regularly.
