| My almost 6 yo daughter tells me that she is the only one in her class who does not watch teen Titans go, I previewed it and it had some inappropriate language. Like using "buns" for bottom and talking about " bun power" and deflating buns etc !!! Some of these kids have older sibs so they might be watching them with their sibs. I am caught in a dilemma between letting her watch shows her friends watch and keeping it age appropriate. Thoughts? Other shows? Rights now she watches wild kratts, odd squad, Angelina ballerina, and some prechool stuff like Daniel tiger. She also likes these African folk tale series Tinga Tinga tales on YouTube. Any other suggestions? |
| Are you serious? |
| My 6yr old watches stuff like that as a result if having 3 older siblings. However, it's only by default. He would much rather watch something else (or nothing at all, he prefers play). Never has he claimed his friends are doing it. That's really young to start that kind of talk. |
| I found that all kid shows are awful. We just finished dancing with the stars and now So you think you can dance has started. |
| Master Chef Jr. |
| OP here, yes, very inappropriate language. I like to use common sense media. Dance shows are a good idea. |
| We watch the shows too but then they hear it at school from other kids, especially those who have older siblings, whose parents justify it as ok as they don't want to separate the kids and have the younger kids watch more appropriate things. We have allowed 2 shows and fortunately, after a few episodes he decides he doesn't like it and its done. So, he can talk about it at school and say he saw it. We don't allow the language at home and correct everything when said. |

My 6 year old has older siblings and watches no TV. However she has watched The Hobbit, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park, along with other more innocuous movies. NOT age-appropriate. She loved them all. I recommend Hayao Miyazaki's movies, with beautiful animation and sensitive stories, which ARE appropriate. My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, and Kiki's Delivery Service are wonderful for a 6 year old. |
| Buns is a no go for you? |
| I have an only and even though the doesn't get it he likes Henry Danger (which is intended for more of an 8-11 set), Alvin and the Chipmunks, and professional sports games or highlight clips (available on Roku ESPN). He also likes some cooking shows like Chopped Jr. and goes through Ninja Warrior phases. |
Sorry, my child is a rising 2nd grader. He's in 1st now. |

I'll admit my 7 year-olds media tastes skew young intentionally, but she tends to watch things like Wild Kratts, Odd Squad, and occasionally something like Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street.
I've never heard of Teen Titans. |

Thank you for the suggestions!
Yes, buns for bottom is a no go, maybe I am old school....I insist on proper usage of anatomical parts. Creates respect for one's body. |
| ESPN Sports Center/Highlights. He's obsessed. |
Yes, because "bottom" is the correct anatomical term. |
