Yes, wouldn't they be considered 'accessories after the fact", at the very least?

They weren't accessories to anything. They would have had to be helping DW flee from police but they claimed to be helping him drive to DC to turn himself in for the wanted postings. Thus, no grounds for holding them. But you can be certain that police collected all of their particulars addresses, phone numbers, etc. and are keeping a very close watch on them.

Even a DC jury would call BS on that angle. They bought money orders to launder the cash. That is not supportive of helping him turn himself in. If charged, they will argue that, but I doubt it would fly. Plus they will turn on each other about who 'knew' versus was naively 'just riding'

They claimed that they did not know the source of the money and were just following his instructions to purchase the money orders.

That was strange that they were let go what seemed so quickly. I am sure LE is on top of it all. There must be good reason that they are not revealing.
The fact that those SWs were issued last month and just coming to light now makes me confident of that.

Not that PP, but curious why that would make you feel confident? I would love to feel some confidence that all involved will be held accountable!

response:
Confidence in LE's ability to use their skills to bring each person responsible to justice. To think on May 14 they already were looking at JW and investigating him with SWs, that they worked night and day in reviewing all the forensic evidence and found Wint soon after. So now we are in June and they have so much more, yet it is not released. So for the sake of your question I feel that they know more and are strategic in letting out or keeping info to themselves until the appropriate time. On another view and most important at least for me is that----I strongly feel God is the ultimate decision maker and feel confident without any doubt what so ever that what if anything is not addressed here on earth than it will be later in the spiritual realm. Hope that answers your question.

You must not have read the article that you linked.

A D.C. Superior Court judge has ordered Mr. Wint to remain in jail pending further court proceedings. If convicted, ICE would not take him into the agency’s custody until after he served his sentence. Immigration courts would then determine whether he should be deported.

Would you rather 10 ppl were involved? Is it better to lament "how vulnerable we all are" for just 1 person being involved?

Thanks for your reply, that does make sense in terms of law enforcement's strategy.

It is so depressing that he wasn't tagged for deportation much earlier in his criminal career, like maybe after he served jail time in Oswego. Why he was allowed to stay in the US, I will never understand. Not that I would wish his presence on the country of Guyana either. But it is his homeland.

Oh, the rubbish about helping DDW to turn himself in! How do they explain the Amerit (sp?)truck which, is a mobile garage for on-site automotive repairs/work?

If there was only one perp, why would you order 3 pizzas? DW isn't that bright if he left DNA on a pizza crust. If he was smart, the perps would have eaten food that was in their fridge.

Damn some of you are just spewing incorrect stuff. He ordered TWO pizzas. One with pepperoni (which was 3/4 eaten) and one plain cheese that remained untouched.

Guys, there are 6th Amendment speedy trial rights that attach at the moment of arrest and set a time line between arrest and arraignment (where arrestee is charged). Then, there is a clock that starts that dictates timing of trial. Thus, you don't want to actually arrest until you have rock-solid evidence. Yes, there is great evidence that these guys were all accessories after the fact. But do you want them to be slapped on the wrist as accessories after the fact if they actually had a hand in the murder? Give LE time. They know what they are doing.

The Amerint truck has not been explained. Photographs of the inside show several boxes. It may have been a vehicle leased my employer of the driver and was the only wheels he could get his hands on at the time.

Helpful and clarifying point. Patient, persistent and well thought out strategies are key to the best outcomes.

It means if he ever gets out of prison (which I very much hope is unlikely) that he will be deported.
