We found a marble subway tile that we like but now I am concerned about putting it in a combo bathtub/shower because of etching or staining. Any experience? Also, considering glass subway tile.
Thoughts on either? I am not a huge fan of the white ceramic subway tile but would consider beveled white beveled. Looking for alternatives. |
| I love the small subway tiles in pale colors - like a very pale green or blue |
| Do both, bottom marble, top glass. Best of both worlds. |
| I would do marble! I LOVE marble and want it everywhere! Etching doesn't bother me and I would do honed. Staining isn't an issue on sealed marble. I would not do half and half. Take a look on Houzz, marble baths are gorgeous! |

| Marble, for sure. Glass tile is already looking dated. |
| Thanks. I like the honed look better but does one etch more? |
| Neither, a trend that has passed. |
| Marble is ugly |
So is your spirit.Nothing is ugly. |
You clearly haven't seen my Uncle Walter. |

Marble has been around forever and it isn't a trend. Marble is in most luxury homes for a reason. |

Have you looked into the maintenance requirements for marble? Will anyone be dying their hair at home and then showering in that bathroom? Although I love the look of marble, especially that beautiful blue/green small marble tile for the floor, those two considerations ultimately turned us off.
We ended up finding a really gorgeous porcelain tile equivalent. We went to a couple tile stores but ultimately found it at a Home Depot in Fairfax. We love the way it looks, and don't have to worry as much about upkeep! |
What maintenance concerns are you worried about? My understanding is that you seal it and that's that. A sealant can last 1-15 years, depending on the quality and use of the area. |
