For those that say neither, what do you suggest instead?
This is for a small full bath that will mainly be used as a powder room (I.e. The shower won't be used very often). |
|
If it won't be used often just go with the marble. It's so pretty.
We did honed marble even in our heavily used bathroom/shower with no etching or staining. Although no home hair dye here so not sure about that. |

Thanks for the feedback!
We are thinking of something like this in a brick pattern https://www.flooranddecor.com/marble-stone/carrara-white-honed-marble-tile-931100279.html#prefn1=productType&sz=12&start=4&prefv1=Marble Do you have any suggestions for the floor? Doesn't have to be marble. |
Beautiful! I'd go with a darker marble/grout for the floor to disguise everyday dirt. How big is the room? |
|
The marble is just in the shower? Not the bathroom walls, right? What kind of sink/vanity?
You could do marble basketweave, hexagon, rectangles. |
We have marble in our master bath. The only place where there is any etching is the countertop. We used a small honed marble tile for the shower floor - 1x1 I think, with some darker dots. The main floor is 12x12 tiles. |
Pay more and get the marble from a nicer place that will give you samples. Marble stains, just be aware. |
Not if its sealed! Why is that so hard to understand? |
Are you someone in the business? My designer who has seen countless bathroom says be prepared for staining, yes, even if sealed. In the shower is the worst because you can get orange stains from deposits in the stone - especially with cheaper marble. |
Right., We need tile only for the bathroom floor and for inside the tub/shower. It's a very small bathroom. We need about 70 square feet in the shower and 25 on the floor. |
It's only .75 a piece to buy a sample though.... |
The quality of the stain is what matters, not the marble. The quality of the marble matters for scratching and chipping. I have all marble countertops throughout my kitchen and laundry. I will be putting in my bath as well. |
Sorry, obviously I meant sealant, not stain. |
| Do I really need to worry about chipping wall tiles? There will be a tub so the tiles will extend from the tub to the ceiling. |
Possibly if you have children banging on the wall with heavy objects. Otherwise no. |
