I'm looking for athletic/sport/comfort/supportive sandals to take long walks in. No Birkenstocks -- footbed doesn't work for me.
Any recommendations? |
| Closed or open toe? I think Chaos are nice looking but if you're walking on trails your toes could get mangled. I like Keens for hiking, but they're not the most attractive. Only the Newport style worked for me, as the footbed is more contoured, but there are other styles that are more delicate/feminine. Whisper is one. |

I got some naturalizer sandals that feel like sneakers. They aren't available anymore, but maybe you could find a similar style.

| I like my Keens for this. |
Oof. Fugly. |

I don't think you'll find anything that meets your needs and are high fashion. But I will say that there are a range of styles from the different manufacturers; it might surprise you. Check out Teva, Keen, Merrell, Chaco, REI, and The Walking Company websites.
These aren't bad IMO. http://www.teva.com/women-sandals/terra-float-stella-lux/1011507.html?dwvar_1011507_color=NAT#start=4&cgid=women-sandals |
| Look at Clarks -- some are nice looking AND very comfortable. |

For the love of God, people. Stop posting beige sandals!

| Teva Universal. I know some people hate them but to me they look sporty and have supreme cushioning. |
I didn't love the beige ones, but these?? These are hideous. I mean, I see them on the playground at preschool. But for a grown woman? |
So right. |
It's an all-purpose comfortable athletic sandal. I think they're cute. I get lots of compliments on mine. I can wear them walking, hiking, tubing, gardening... Most adult women I know have them. |

Chacos are the most comfortable for my feet.
I have their plain black flip flops and an older version of these sandals: http://www.chacos.com/US/en/z-1-classic/24105W.html?dwvar_24105W_color=J105414#cgid=women-footwear-sandals&start=1 Both are terrific on long walks and the strapped ones have worked on shorter and less demanding hikes. |
What color are your workout shoes? These look to me like a summer version of a running shoe. I might notice if you were wearing them to work, but wouldn't think twice about them on a hiking trail. |
