It was ten minutes outside of Egyptain airspace. I think that means it was over the Mediterranean Sea at the time?

Plus ten crew members.

I'm freaking out. I think my husband's business partner may have been on that plane. I can't get in touch with anyone in Cairo. I think the phone lines are jammed, everyone calling everyone else.

I'm really sorry. I hope everything is okay.

They are now correcting location - it was about 10 miles into Egyptian airspace.

So far I think this page has the best updates and consolidation of Twitter feeds: http://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2016/may/19/egyptair-plane-cairo-paris-live-updates

About 200 miles from Cairo shore.

I am concerned that the lack of distress call or communication points more to foul play, rather than a slower decent due to a malfunction.

I was worried about this also. My first thought was terrorist/bomb or surface to air.

I'm the PP whose husband is in Egypt awaiting the arrival of his partner. Was this plane close enough for surface to air missiles? ISIS sympathizers are in the Sinai peninsula.

I would hate to think it was someone on board. I thought France's security was good. They were rough on me the last time I flew through Paris to Cairo.

Max is about 15 miles. This was 200 miles from any coast but that doesn't mean it could not have been from a small boat.

I am so sorry about your DHs business partner.

This was either a horrible accident or something more sinister.

Aside from TWA 800 and China Air 611, I can't think of any flights that simply disintegrated in mid-air without nefarious factors involved (I don't believe the TWA 800 conspiracy theories). First guess would be a bomb on board.

I suppose the sort of good news is that unlike MH370, this is a much smaller search area and a much shallower body of water, so they'll certainly find it.
