Can a woman text a man first?

I've been off the market for a decade until recently. I met a man and we exchanged numbers. This was last nightt and he hasn't made contact. Is it too forward or desperate if I text him? I don't want to come off as clingy...I just want him to know I'm definitely interested.

Did you seem interested in him? Did you flirt etc?

I tend to let men take the first step. It's an indicator they are into you rather than being lazy and just dating the girl who likes them. Plus unfortunately I think the chase thing has some merit.

But sometimes I do make contact first when I fear I didn't show enough interest. I am not good at flirting and sometimes come across as uninterested I think.

This is not to say that getting back into dating will be easy. But if you avoid bs gender roles, you will have more control over your own life and your own feelings.

I was definitely interested. My flirting game isn't what it used to be though. I don't know how I came across. He initiated most of our contact last night. I just don't want him to think I'm disinterested. I'm very into him.

Absolutely. Honestly, a lot of men like when a woman takes the initiative. Even if it's just a text to say hey I enjoyed your company last night, and ask how they're doing.
Don't be afraid to show a little interest.

This. Text him first if you like, though you should wait a few days, but don't do more than that. Just enough so he knows he won't be shot down if he asks you out and that's it.
