If you're a mom and you have a mom, does she give you a card on Mother's Day?

Just curious. My mom makes a big deal out of Mother's Day and I've always gotten her a gift and card. I am a mom now with little kids. My sisters in law send me Mother's Day cards. I still get my mom a gift and card. She doesn't give me anything, not even a card. I know this may sound petty but it kind of hurts my feelings. Just a little. I'd never tell her that.

Moms who have living moms- do you exchange cards on Mother's Day or is it only you giving her a card because she's your mom?

Yes, it is petty. You are not your mom's mom.

It's a day for you to honor your mom, and your kids to honor you.

Some people acknowledge other mothers in their life, and that's fine, but that's not how everyone does it. Most people acknowledge their own mothers, and that's it.

OP, you kind of are the tween who asked, "But why don't we have a KIDS Day?!"

Yes, never from MIL though.

My mom will wish me a happy Mother's Day when we call her, but I don't get a card or anything from her. And she's completely card-crazy otherwise!

I agree with a PP that it's a day to celebrate your mom, and for your kid(s) to celebrate you.

My mom sends me a card.

I give my Mom a gift, usually flowers, or I make her a meal. My kids give me a gift. I would never expect my own Mother to give me something.

No, my mom doesn't send me anything. I do send her a card (that's all she wants). My MIL sends me a card and a small gift. This year it was a $25.00 gift card to Starbucks, which was perfect.

+1. I would have felt extremely awkward if my mother had started giving me cards on Mother's Day.

My mom gives me a card. I think it's really sweet.

My MIL gives me a card and it drives me nuts. She writes in it as if it's from DD. She has boundary issues.
