WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Tuesday claimed that Donald Trump Jr. releasing his own emails was the result of a conversation they had.

Assange said on Twitter that he contacted Trump Jr. to make the case that he should release the emails that led up to the president's oldest son meeting with a Russian lawyer, and that it should be done via WikiLeaks.

In a reply to one of his Twitter followers, Assange said he told Trump Jr. that his "enemies" had the documents and would "milk isolated phrases for weeks or months" that would have their own "context" or "spin."

It was better to be transparent, Assange said.

Assange is his lawyer now...

And BTW, Sr trump praised his son's transparency today through WH press briefing. You cannot make this up.

NP here. It's no defense, that's for sure. But I do think it's possible that they didn't realize what a very serious crime they were committing. I'm sure they knew it was sketchy but maybe didn't know it was treason. This is why we need politicians in politics. We need people who have studied the law and government and have experience governing. Manafort quit didn't he and Kushner walked out of the meeting according to the ABC translation. Did they pay her for the interview? Did she meet McFaul? If she has worked in the arena for years, she must have a record of visits with State. Hearings are open but she sat behind The former US ambassador? Didn't she speak Russian in the ABC interview? Do Manafort, DJTJr or Kushner speak Russian? Who gave her the visa? How long has NYT been sitting on this story that supposedly has national security implications?!?!
