I really like the song Wish List. I’m surprised she wrote it for Travis. It sounds just like “And if my wishes came true, it would’ve been you” and “I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings.” Those deep desires don’t transfer to every man a woman dates. My bet is it’s at least partly inspired by Matty Healy, still. The lyric about asking the world to leave them the f&ck alone, “and they do, wow” makes no sense for Travis. No one is bothering and canceling them the way they did when she went public with Matty.
Wish List is the continuation of But Daddy I Love Him: the heat dies down and she gets back together with him. Her parents and the fans lets them be and she is having his baby. |
| This album was mailed in. This is what happens when you wait too long to settle down. She should have married Calvin Harris ten years ago. Even Harris ended up with some gold digger who previously rejected him. Taylor's lost her aura and is about to marry a meathead doofus. |
She sounds happier, a bit jaded, and more at ease with herself. It’s a fun album. Less innocent, more playful. I don’t think she mails much of anything in, and it’s interesting how the album is conjuring opposite opinions to the point of controversy. It will be interesting to see where she takes her music next. |
| "Opalite" is about Travis's ex girlfriend he dated for five years? It's so gross to be a billionaire with this sort of platform attacking a random middle class Black woman who dated your fiancé. |
My 18-year old also doesn't like it (aside from a few songs) and I feel the same way. I love the boppin' beats! |
It's not only psychopathic mean girl bullying of a lone non-famous Black woman, it's flat out embarrassing she has to reach back to her man's past relationship for song material. |
No, it's about Taylor coming out of her depression. |
Agreed. Both this and Actually Romantic are weird to me because it demonstrates that she's sitting around thinking/imagining what people like Travis's ex, or Matty's circle of friends, are doing now that she and Travis have moved on from them. That's a very unhealthy mentality, and is a weird thing to be thinking about right before getting engaged. It's very backwards looking and makes me wonder if she's making decisions for her own happiness and satisfaction, or if it's about proving these other people wrong or showing them up. |
| Taylor is revered for her pettiness and vengefulness. It’s part of how fans relate to her. |
| Are you Swifties in a cult? |
lol this has to be a dig at "The smallest man who ever lived." |
the end of But Daddy I Love Him is about Travis… |

So this is thebtype of crew Taylor wanted to get entangled with and is now still bitter about?? |
I’m surprised this is sparking such a reaction tbh because these songs aren’t new for Taylor and I don’t think it means she’s not a girls girl or doesn’t support other female artists. I also suspect it goes way beyond a response to Sympathy is a Knife. |
Paper Rings is about Joe and the one is about Karlie Kloss. |
