Probably another balloon. Why do you care? It doesn't affect your day to day life. Let the experts handle it. Nations spy on each other all the time. Sometimes they get caught.

yeah I can't imagine why anyone might be curious to know more details, it being breaking news and all.

Thanks! +1

As with the last balloon incident, they wanted to keep this under wraps too, but some "nosy" reporter asked Kirby about it at today's press briefing.
That's why it wasn't discussed until 11 minutes into the briefing. Had he wanted to talk about it, he would have led with it.

The last incident was only made public because of a sharp-eyed photographer in Montana......

I just think conspiracy theories are generally too complicated to actually work. It’s more likely something mundane.

If you think this administration didn't want to keep these incidents under wraps, then you are clueless as to how these stories have unraveled.

They had Kirby up there in the first place – he’s not there every day – because they knew the strike was about to happen and get confirmed by the Pentagon. Sheesh.

How do you mean? You think this happens all the time or Biden flubbed the “first” one so wanted to show strength or something else? Genuinely curious, thanks!

But the nosy reporter got the story from somewhere. From the admin, from detractors? It’s still interesting and I’m intrigued by other’s thoughts. Thanks!

Then why not lead with it? I’m actually not clear on the timeline so, assuming it wasn’t breaking news to him at the time, why wait until asked? I don’t think anything hinky is going on, but I’m so unclear regarding this admin’s message.

I had MSNBC on and they were airing the daily press briefing, which they don’t do every day anymore, so the White House had told the media that something was up. Plus KJP gave it to Kirby as soon as she got up there. I think the mission was in progress and he was going to announce it as soon as it was over and everyone was back on the ground.

Fox last week:

How dare Biden allow the balloon to overfly the US

Fox this week:

How dare Biden shoot down an unarmed balloon

I’m so tired of all that’s happened in the last 3 years I’m half hoping it was some kind of ufo alien and now the whole fleet will be coming because we shot it down. Really I’m ready for a new overlord or for us to all be whipped out. In all seriousness though I think it’s been suggested it was probably a rogue drone.

Clearly written by someone who has never watched Fox.
Nobody is criticizing him giving the order to down this 2nd flying object (they have not called it a balloon). The criticism is his allowing the first one to traverse the entire continental US.

Drones don't fly at that altitude.

And yet, it was using what they learned on that experience that allowed them to detect this one earlier and dispose of it accordingly.
