Hearst waitlist for K

Anonymous
We're in the high 20s on the WL for Hearst for K. Is this even worth getting excited about?
Anonymous
I do not think you will get called.
Anonymous
No, there is an increase in IB families attending the school, and also families moving into the boundary in order to attend the school, so I do not think the list will move.
Anonymous
Agreed. Classes will be crowded. Chances of pulling people off the waitlist are very close to zero.
Anonymous
Even OOB with sibling seem like they are not getting in, so I would not count on it at all.
Anonymous
The school is already at capacity in the early grades with IB families.

What do you mean by "crowded?" If the K classes hit a tipping point (27-28?) the principal may open another section of K and then the waitlist might get tapped to fill up that new class that only has 14-16 kids.

Where exactly would they put this "other section of K" you are talking about?
Anonymous
Been there, with a little bit of a better #, for K and 1. Not a freaking peep.
Anonymous
Sorry OP, it does not seems likely.

They could use the Spanish room. But this scenario seems very unlikely.

They could decide in the future not to have PK4, but even that only opens up two classrooms.

Current and future IB parents have spoken with principal privately about keeping class sizes small. Have received assurances on that and only 2 classes per grade. Not going to overcrowd Hearst with OOB students who come from under enrolled schools.

It is good to hear that future parents have also reached out to the principal. Very glad to hear this.

Does this include not allowing in OOB with sibling students above 20 in K? what does "small" class size mean in terms of numbers?
