Mainly I want to ask a question. Why is it strange to make fried tuna cakes? |
Hot tuna steaks = yum
Hot canned tuna = yuck |
When I was poor, I would take a can of tuna, an egg, onion, garlic, black pepper, bread crumbs, and mayo...
Mix it up, make a patty, fry it. It wasn't great, but it was about the healthiest think I could afford. Today, I have modified the recipe: I replace jumbo lump tuna, and call it crab cakes. |
PP here...meant Crab meat. |
Isn't this REALLY just tuna croquettes? |
That's not what she even made. |
Yes |
I love fried tuna patties with a side of mac and cheese. The best Lenten meal! I mix mine with crushed up crackers though. I also make salmon patties! |
DH is from the south and loves salmon patties, with grits, for breakfast. I bought fresh salmon and flaked it up for him, but he wasn't having it. He loves the crap from a can. The house smells for DAYS afterwards. I hate them. |
Who eats Tuna croquettes?!?? I have never been offered, nor have I ever considered making, anything like this. The idea of hot canned tuna makes me gag. But. As a PP noted, this is not like the glorious lightly fried and spices tuna we have all been fascinated with this week. |
We eat salmon croquettes all the time and they're awesome with lemon juice. My family is British and has eaten them for generations. I haven't tried a tuna version, but I'm interested! |
gross OP. You could make a tuna salad with the water versioned tuna. But frying them? That's just horrible. |
I have a Japanese book on bento meals and it has a recipe for fried canned tuna burgers. I've been making them for years and my family loves them. |
Nobody has had a tuna melt? Really? Not the same as lightly fried tuna, but the tuna is warm, dare I say even hot, if cheese is properly melty. |
I don't fry it, I broil it. Way different and way better |
