Would y'all please stop discussing fried tuna? I have a serious craving. Are you in the tuna PR business? Tuna sales rep? Seriously, stop using DCUM as a cash cow. Mmm, ice cream.... |
I feel like this thread either belongs IN the expectant moms forum or FAR AWAY from it. |
I've had a fried tuna sandwich. I ordered a tuna sandwich at a deli and was skeptical when the man put some butter on the grill and put tuna on top of it and said so. He said to just trust him. He let it get warm, put some cheese slices on it to melt and then it went on the bread. It was DELICIOUS.
However, I did not put it in my bag and eat it several hours later. So while I can support grilled tuna, I cannot support grilled-then-chilled tuna. |
I love canned tuna. Tuna casserole is a favorite. Tuna sautéed (fried) over pasta is a favorite. Why do people have a thing with hot tuna? Don't get it. |
It's a tuna melt. Also good with sour kraut and -- is it french dressing? can't remember. Really good. |
Another southerner here, and yes, this is definitely a thing. |
I think there is a world of difference between a tuna or salmon cake, or tuna croquettes, and what that Vienna lady did. I wouldn't eat any of it but I somewhat understand the first two. |
My (uber-Catholic) roommate in college used to make Kraft Mac n cheese with tuna mixed in it. It wasn't bad, but it's not something I've cooked myself since then. |
OMG that's my favorite. I'm pregnant and I crave tuna in my Mac and Cheese. And then add Tony Chacheres creole seasoning on top. |
Tuna croquettes = yum! Serve it with a remoulade.
Tuna fried with tumeric = nasty |
PP, can you post the recipe if you get a chance? Thanks. |
+100, man beat me to it!!! That was my favorite meal in college. |
OP here.
The recipe. 2 cans of tuna (drain) add salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, rosemary, 1 egg, and about 2 tbsp of coconut flour. Mix Heat 1 tbsp of oil on in a pan. Form tuna into patties and cook for 1 min on each side. Garnish with cheese or sour cream. (or whatever you like!) |
Look, I'm sure we could all learn to love fried tuna, it is not that weird. It's just that, it was an absurd detail that caused a collective double-take on DCUM. I read the story and was like - wait, what? You fried the what? Then I scrolled the comments and saw that everyone else was also having a WTF moment. Then we had a moment of crowd joy all hating on fried tuna. I'm sure if we were served fried tuna in a deli without the context of that bizarre story we wouldn't all be gagging and barfing. |
??? Why are you explaining this? |
