Isn't this the year that Fenty's boys are to start public school? Has anyone heard where they are going? Just wondering if he is keeping his promise. Thanks.

I'm sure if he's asked, he'll respond in the usual manner: "they'll go where I want, for I am KING!"
|
I’m Yertle the Turtle! Oh, marvelous me!
For I am the ruler of all that I see!” Ok, Williams looked more like Yertle, but Fenty sure sounds like him. |
I miss Tony ![]() |
Hmm. I'd miss Tony more if he hadn't become Mayor Baseball. |
Have the Fenty boys been in private school? Where? |
Tony was earnest though; and I have to say, million dollar condos aside, he really revitalized downtown. There are actually people there now. And he just seems like a good guy.
Fenty does have his kids in private school. He was endearing as the blackberry answering Councilmember, but he does seem to have let this new position go to his head and is taking questionable, not terribly effective stances on things (in my opinion) |
IIRC, when they were in first grade, their private school only went to second. Then they were supposed to head to DCPS.
Then when they were in second grade, their private school added third. So one more year in private. Now that they are finishing up third, I predict their private school will add fourth. I doubt those boys will ever see the inside of a DCPS classroom. |
17:27 I agree. Fenty is bizarrely arrogant. His trip to Dubai was scandalous. But Tony was not all angelics. Remember the mayoral mansion he wanted to build, the DC Gracie Mansion. That was power-trippy. |
The woman who ran the Fenty kids' school died recently, so I doubt they'll be adding grades. But, yeah, I wondered why they were still there for 3rd grade.
I wasn't a Williams fan. I think we poured a ton of money into revitalizing downtown and got very little bang for our buck. Most of what's good didn't need incentivizing. It just required a little patience after the department stores died. |
While Williams left a lot to be desired, I don't think you can fairly blame him for the mansion idea. The Casey Foundation proposed to contribute land, a mansion, and pay for upkeep. Tony was happy living in his Watergate apartment. |
18:45 Williams could have turned down the offer! The whole thing was obscene. Didn't it fall apart because of neighborhood opposition? |
I think the loud objections came from east of the park. A LOT of people didn't like the symbolism of the mayor living in such a wealthy, traditionally white enclave.
Holding the mansion thing against Williams is really pretty unfair. It wasn't his idea, DC wouldn't have been on the hook for it, and he did say no. |
21:36 He said he would not live there, but he supported the project, which I found wildly objectionable at the time. It was misguided, extravagant and all the rest and he was positively wimpy about it. That's my take, it was then and is now. |
So back to the point at hand -- which private school will Fenty's kids attend next year?
