What's WES?

Washington Episcopal School |
Thanks. I do hope he sends them to a DCPS school. |
I hear it's H.D. Cooke. |
Cooke? Why? The Fentys live in Ward 4. Wouldn't they be closer to Shepherd?
This has to be the persistent Cooke booster again. |
Or someone making fun of her! |
Their neighborhood school is West Elementary School. I don't think which school matters--as long as it it is public. I think it would be great if he chose HD Cooke--it is very close to his house no matter which Ward it is located in... |
If their neighborhood school is West, then Cooke is a good 4 MILES away. A little out of the way to travel for a Title One school. Shepherd is the best DCPS up that way (still quite a stretch!) unless they want to drive west of the park. |
HD Cooke --is in Adams Morgan and it is 2 miles away....it is a straight shot down 16th street. I do it everyday and it is very close. |
2 miles then - whatever - like it makes a difference? Who drives 2 miles out of their way to put their private-school-educated children in a Title I school with abysmal test scores? |
the way the pp is wielding the phraise "title one" is making me want to vomit. on her. |
i wonder how far they drive to the private school? |
Cooke's on the way to his parents' store. |
Since when do you get to pick which public school you go to? I can't. The Fenty's shouldn't be able to either. They should go to the one that they are in bounds for. Whichever that is. |
In DC, you are not restricted to attending your "in-bounds" school, and can apply for a spot in a better school throught the OOB process. I've done it, and would never consider sending my child to our in-bounds school.
Fenty should send his kids to public because he should put his money where his mouth is. I won't say whether or not he ought to send his kids to his in-boundary school, but I don't think that he should be allowed to place them in the school of his choice, either. |
