Any other sport in US with 2 different age cutoffs?

For college purpose what is better: ECNL or a second level MLSN2?

Not only clubs, also players don’t have any incentive to remain at MLSN2.

What makes ECNL players better quality than MLSN2 players?
Especially in areas with both ECNL and MLS2 like Potomac and Bethesda

Now that MLS has a clear landing zone for SY grouped ECNL teams its going to be a green light for switching over to MLSN2+GA from ECNL boys/girls.

So what’s the point of MLS2 now? No pathway to 1 and isn’t a great b team option if the age cutoff doesn’t align with the top team.

They don't have coaches and soccer in MLSN2?

The pathway up for a kid is their skills, performance and potential, not a label.

How will a team from mls2 on SY be able to be relegated up to mls1 in BY? You would have to find a whole new team of players to be able to compete due to half the team being the wrong age group.

I think the poster meant promoted. And there is no point to mlsn2 now.

MLSN2 is there to directly compete with ECNL for the Boys 2nd Tier.
MLSN2 is there to make money so MLSN academies can keep offering free soccer and stem the financial losses. It doesn't matter if it is 5th tier as long as it brings in the cash.

Team Relegated????

MLSN sold mlsn2 to clubs because they have the opportunity if they do well to move up. My son’s club is mlsn2 but have 3 teams already being told from MLSN they will be pulled up.

How will they continue that? If you get pulled up you need to drop players if you get relegated down you need to find new players?

The clubs didn't create a second team and call it mlsn2
They just relabeled the 2nd teams to mlsn2

Sounds to me like MLSN2 was setup to compete on the 2nd tier p2p level with boys ECNL.

If ECNL thins out their weaker teams and tries to send them to ECRL those clubs could definitely look at MLSN2/GA.

Wow, MLSN just buried GA, didn't even try to prop them up.

Its annoying because a q3-4 AD kid will have to jump up an age group as well as be skilled enough.
