FCPS comprehensive boundary review

I wonder if the school choice executive order that the president just signed is going to impact FCPS’s thinking on this. I hope they think twice before moving anyone.

He is directing the department of education to do this when he promised to get rid of it? So rational.

Rational or not, seems like the school board needs all the help it can get, rather than tear the county apart with boundary changes.

Being dramatic doesn't change that no county is being torn apart by boundary changes. The PP that topic is completely irrelevant here.

Making changes to increase efficiency and cut costs isn’t tearing the county apart. Stop being dramatic.

Now, releasing violent criminals who attacked our country from prison- that is tearing the country apart.

The only problem is that they are not changing boundaries to increase efficiency and cut costs...

Broken record. And you don't even know yet what boundary changes they'll propose.

+1. And if people think this isn’t going to tear the county apart, I invite you to go read the written comments from the community meetings that are posted on the BRAC website.

They just seek to downplay the impact until it is too late.

Boundary changes caused me to vote R this past election which negated your vote. So maybe we can just hold hands and have the county and country torn apart together?

I wasn't quoting anyone, which doesn't foreclose responding to your whiny post(s).

Finally.

Mr. Trump's new executive action comes as the 2024 National Assessment of Education Progress shows that 40% of 4th graders did not meet basic reading levels, the highest percentage ever recorded.

The data, released Wednesday at midnight, also shows 4th and 8th grade average reading scores have continued a downward trend, each down two points from 2022. According to the NAEP, 70% of 8th graders weren't proficient in reading and 72% weren't proficient in math.

"Every child deserves the best education available, regardless of their zip code," the White House document reads. "However, for generations, our government-assigned education system has failed millions of parents, students and teachers. This executive order begins to rectify that wrong by opening up opportunities for students to attend the school that best fits their needs."
