Anyone?
Who collects the flyers, newspapers? |
| Normally the neighbor across the street, but sometimes next door. We all help each other out. No big deal. |
| I stop the newspaper delivery. We have our cleaning service still come during the week and they'll bring in any packages and water plants. We have video cameras that I can access from an app, so I can literally check on the house whenever needed. We have a nearby sitter I can ask to stop by to take care of something if needed. Our neighbors keep to themselves, so I only ask for their help if no other option. |
Why the need to say no big deal? |
| No one. Our neighbor across the street is a cop and his car is parked out front. |
What about flyers or mail? |
| Uh, no one. How long are you people vacationing? |
One week but we tend to get lots of flyers. |
| We stop the paper and the mail. The cleaning person comes weekly. We have a security system. |
|
We always do a USPS hold on our mail when we travel. You can request it through the website, and schedule it to be delivered in a bundle the day (or day before, etc) you return home.

| Nobody. We don't get the newspaper. We have the mail held at the post office. We have lights on timers. |
| No one. We do a mail hold. we tell neighbors we're leaving but I don't actually expect them to "watch the house." |
| We have a security system primarily because the house is empty when we travel (we have a large, territorial dog home during most other times so the security system is not really needed). The system gives me a lot of piece of mind. If we are leaving for more than a few days, I place a mail hold. I have friends who can swing by if there are packages left. |
| No one. The thought never really crossed my mind. We get a mail/newspaper hold, and have automatic timers. |
| We have local tweens come in daily to care for our cat so they just pick up any random fliers that come during that time. We have our mail stopped and we don't get a newspaper delivered. |
