Who watches the house while you vacation?

We have neighbors walk by our house daily during their dog walks - they check for flyers, things left on the porch and collect whatever to save for us. Our mailbox is in the door so mail collects inside. Lights on timers, a exterior video camera that can be checked from our devices but we haven't check yet while away. We tell our neighbors how long we will be gone, how to reach us and they have email/text if they have any questions. For instance one summer a different neighbor was using our driveway to do car maintenance while we were away. We did not tell them they could us our driveaway and they left grease/oil marks, nails etc. I was grateful that our trusted neighbor let us know and we had a conversation when we returned. Good to have been keeping eyes on things. Its pretty obvious when people are gone for a while - from papers collecting to lawns not mowed.

We have our next door neighbors pick up the mail. And we tell them if we'll be gone for more than 3 days. They are cops, so I feel pretty good about using them. We do the same when they are gone.
