No. The protests are for a ceasefire and for the US to stop funding Israel. The Protests are not in support of Hamas terrorists.

Will Israel save the hostages lives by agreeing to a ceasefire?

Bullcrap.
Some of these protestors are carrying Hamas flags and chanting the same rhetoric as the Hamas terrorists.
And, we have seen more than enough evidence of people actually praising these less-than-human individuals.

DP

My friends who attended the protest are centrist types and were definitely just asking for a ceasefire and more humanity towards the Palestinians.

There were no doubt a minority of more extreme protestors but it was mostly peaceful and most protestors just want to see a ceasefire and humanitarian support for the many Palestinians civilians suffering from terrible injuries/ loss of homes/ loss of family members and starvation. Especially the many children who are suffering so much.

Everyone I know condemns Hamas actions on October 7.

But Israel’s disproportionate response is not only inhumane but making Israel less safe in a hostile region.

Very fine people at the protest, right?

You know the left has lost their minds when they’re parroting Trump’s rhetoric on Charlottesville.

What? I never said they were very fine people - I said they are sensible centrist types and not extremists. They simply Want the indiscriminate response by IDF to stop and for more humanitarian support for the innocent Palestinians. They also condemn Hamas’ actions but don’t think Israel’s scale of response is justified.

It is in no one’s interests to continue down this extreme path. Many Jewish friends in DMV are also horrified by the scale of devastation visited upon Palestinians / all while not approving of Hamas and wanting Israel to survive.

It is bizarre to refer to anyone who disagrees with IDF’s military tactics as anti semitic.

I didn’t refer to anyone as anti-Semitic.

But it’s clear that many of the protesters openly support violence, including (astonishingly) violence against the US.

Waving the Houthi flag while they’re firing missiles at US troops?

Celebrating the Hamas attacks (has happened repeatedly at the protests)?

The former is treasonous and the latter grotesque.

So let’s not pretend that the people at these rallies are peace-loving centrists—they’re anti-American radicals accompanied by some useful idiots from the far left.

And I say this as a centrist who deplores much of what the IDF has done.

This is most likely fake news - I did not attend the protests but friends who did said it was peaceful and the news last night had a lot of coverage. I did not see what you are talking about.

Well if your friends didn’t see it then it def didn’t happen. Or, you could go back a few pages back and see the posts with linked twitter photos from the protest.

You can't claim to be a sensible centrist while marching arm in arm with extremists openly wearing patches and emblems of known terrorist groups like the Al Qassem Brigade.

Tell us what would happen if Israel agreed to a unilateral ceasefire, please? Because Hamas would continue their efforts to exterminate Jews... which is fine by you. What you really mean is Jews should not be allowed to fight back.

Ceasefire means both sides stop firing.

What happens if the ceasefire is broken by one side or another is part of the conditions of a ceasefire treaty.

Which is why there can not be a ceasefire until every single Hamas supporter is either dead or locked up in Israeli prison.

Because Hamas will never abide by any ceasefire. They will keep killing and raping and destroying the world until they achieve their goal of the death of every Jew in the world.

And the Palestinian experience is that Israel is committed to killing and destroying them. An endless cycle.

All arising from the Palestinians’ idiotic decision to reject UN resolution 181.

Back to 181 again. You condemn the U.N. 24/7 for being unfair, except that one time they conceived of a rigged plan that gave you and the other 31% of Zionist people in the region over 60% of the land already occupied by the indigenous people, with all of the critical water supply and natural resource advantages.

Again, for the 1,000th time, how would you react if someone showed up in your driveway this evening to announce that your property would be transferred to a group of strangers tomorrow morning? But wait, they also have some great news that you should be thrilled to welcome - you get to keep around 40% of the property for yourself! Not the house part, of course, but some good parts by the curb and a little over near the backyard fence area. And it's not like the strangers are getting ALL the good stuff. They have to take that dry patch of grass over there, too. So it's fair and all, don't worry. Just sign this paper.

Good god, you revisionist historians with the 181 tripe.

So let’s annihilate them, right?

1,000 words to say that you don’t think Israel should exist.

Brevity is your friend.

Strawberries. Hillside. Ramekin.

See, anyone can just spit out incoherent words that don't in any way reflect what came before them.

Nobody said annihilation or suggested it.

Actually, “annihilate” is exactly what the leaders of the Arab armies said in 1948.

You want a citation or you prefer to try again?

Nobody endorsed what was supposedly "said" by the Arab armies in 1948. But for the record, if your citation ends in .il, I'll pass. I prefer actual historical records.

That said, what DID occur was that you were asked how you would respond. Now, why don't you try giving reading comprehension a spin and please answer that question. I'll restate it, directly from the PP that you replied to with that annihilation non-sequitur ...

Again, for the 1,000th time, how would you react if someone showed up in your driveway this evening to announce that your property would be transferred to a group of strangers tomorrow morning?

I’d hire a lawyer.

I wouldn’t murder them.

You?

But that’s really a distraction from the main point:

You are arguing (1) that Israel shouldn’t have been created, and (2) that the Palestinians were (are?) justified in using violence to oppose that creation.

Right?

And when the court system rejects your claim over and over again, how would you handle that setback? For the next 75 years, enduring endless abuses by your new landlord with no relief in sight?

I have to admit, I truly enjoy the idea of you squirming to reconcile how you would supposedly take your grievance to the court system "like a civilized adult" whilst defending Israel's prosecuting of its grievance by killing 24,000 (and counting) people with warplanes and bombs. Why didn't they just hire a lawyer?

As for what I think, I absolutely think Israel should not have been created in the Middle East, and certainly not as a "Jewish state". I'm also opposed to Islamic states, for the record. The plan had (and continues to have) no long-term prospects for success. But Israel is there, and both Israel and its neighbors have the burden of making it all work, somehow. As an American who isn't brainwashed by propaganda that U.S. strategic interests will always necessitate supporting Israel with welfare, I don't really care how they work it out, as long as I'm not forced to watch my country fund one side of it so disproportionately. It's like living in a country that supports the favorite over the underdog - who supports that?

Another 500 words to say:

1. Israel never should have been created.

2. Palestinian terrorism is justified.

3. Supporting Israel isn’t in US interests (though you can’t articulate why).

Got it.

You’re cool when the musical chairs melody stops and you find yourself sitting on a nice comfy seat that you stole from someone else through acts of violence, and others despise you for being a thieving scumbag who steals from others and feels entitled to do so.

But what’s the problem? Why are you even here complaining? As you’re quick to remind us, everyone throughout history has always hated you. What’s different about this chapter of hate?

Us? I’m not Palestinian nor Hamas, and I’m not trying to kill anyone.

I’m simply pointing out that you have carved out a cultural identity that seems to find conflict wherever you go. Many have abandoned the aspects of that cultural identity that creates hostilities, and they seem to live in peace. Others, like you, seem to cling to conflict.

Given that obstreperousness, why are you here trying to convince others to find common cause with you?

The terror attack in Rananna today, which killed Edna Bluestein, 79, and injured 18 Israelis, was executed by two Hebron residents. The two terrorists involved in this sophisticated, coordinated attack were working illegally in a car wash in the area.

They seized three vehicles and used them to ram pedestrians in several parts of the city. They took Edna into a vehicle, stabbed her to death, and threw her out.

One witness recounted, "“We heard the noise of a crash, like a car bumping into another car. We saw the driver go to stab a woman and she ran away, and [the driver] went and stabbed a 60-year-old man while there were a bunch of screams in the background, until he fell on the ground.”

Another witness: “I saw someone stab three people next to the mall, steal a car and run people over with it.”

Unfortunately, this attack shows why Israel cannot afford to have Palestinian workers in the country anymore. The two economies must be absolutely separate.

While I firmly believe that it is in the Israeli interest to guarantee a strong economy in the West Bank, it cannot be done by allowing in workers. These terror attacks do nothing to build trust and peace.

These are always the same people that take a perfectly reasonable cause - Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matters - and then overtake it with their nihilism, destruction, hatred, and profound ignorance.

Free Palestine is the same thing. Totally reasonable to want a cease fire, more aid to Palestinians stuck in Gaza, and to encourage a meaningful peace process. But the same people come out with their Hamas flags and their speeches about the destruction of Israel. It's always the same "progressives."

99 percent of Americans wouldn't be caught dead at a Free Palestine protest at this point.

You’re under a serious misapprehension (several, actually).

1. No one hates me, insofar as I’m aware.

2. Haven’t stolen anything from anyone (indeed, much of my family is Native, so quite the opposite).

3. I’m not even particularly pro-Israel—probably a centrist in the current environment.

I do have both personal and professional interests in international affairs, which is why I’m here (and also why I have little tolerance for much of the nonsense here).

And, we have Americans marching in support of these terrorists......

You can't claim to be a sensible centrist while marching arm in arm with extremists openly wearing patches and emblems of known terrorist groups like the Al Qassem Brigade.

Just like the people who forced the removal of Ivy League presidents.

Spotting and assessing sounds like they were Mossad.

The Hamas jacket guys watching the crowd is strange . Wouldn’t they be too busy chanting and protesting like everyone else? The DC cop had the right instinct to feel suspicion but it’s at the other team. I would bet anything that was an Israeli.
