It’s been explained repeatedly. If you’re incapable of understanding, we can’t help you.

“Teachers and kids and the lowest paid earners like grocery store clerks and servers should be at work at risk but everyone else should still be able to work at home safely.” We know.

+1. If the School Board said, "Hey, we are meeting virtually because we want to keep community spread as low as possible, and we want the BOS and our national leaders to shut down all non-essential businesses and require telework for everyone who is not an essential worker so that schools can remain open and health systems don't get overrun", that would be one thing. They aren't saying that. They're meeting virtually because THEY don't want to risk exposure to Covid but can't say so because it's terrible optics.

School Board doesn’t need to be in person to do their job effectively. Teachers do.

Disagree. My kids are doing great with virtual learning, thanks to their teachers. I would also disagree that the School Board has been doing an effective job virtually. Maybe they should try meeting in person.

I just feel like they can’t actually be doing their job without that in person socialization you know ?

+1000. Just wait. If APS forces teachers hands to come back at height of pandemic, it will only take a small percentage of them quitting to bring grade levels at various schools to a halt. Particularly high school
And middle school. They will end up having to offer those teachers DL with aides in the classroom. They cannot hire a bunch of teachers at this point. The whole thing is ludicrous. Watch what happens.

DP. I completely agree with you. Our kids are thriving and making progress with DL. They are quite happy doing DL and not having to deal with the misbehaving idiots who get 90% of the teacher's time because she's trying to keep them in line. Now those kids can't act out in a way that disrupts learning so it is a complete win-win for my kids. Finally!

They won’t have to quit. They will get exposed or sick and have to quarantine and when there aren’t enough staff in the building to cover each others classes it won’t work. Exposure to a confirmed contact is 10 school days out.

This is what I don't get. Also, there is no way they're going to find subs.

If their is exposure than they will switch to DL. Why is that so hard to understand?

The parents are not mentally unstable as a group. Just spoiled and privileged and entitled. At least where I live. That’s enough to drive this insanity when you add in pressure from Wash Post and NY Times about learning loss. But the truth is, you can’t deal with learning loss if your teachers are sick or quit. And most of kids you need to target aren’t coming in. Because their parents aren’t privileged and spoiled and living in a bubble. They have seen COVID up front and aren’t drinking the Kool Aid. Hybrid is not the answer right now. Wait 2-3 months. Then try.

How are you measuring progress as compared to a traditional school year?

DP. Why would you do that?? This is NOT a traditional year! The learning is of course going to be impacted like everything else. Is your work output equal to other years? Your happiness? Your relationships? Health of your stocks? Your weight? Productivity? No. It is ludicrous to have expected that in ANY format of learning kids would have had equal or better progress than a typical year. It isn’t a typical year in ANYONES life in any aspect.

We know you are vile. Point made. Go find something better to do with your time. Maybe...parent your kids?

It’s 9:38am on winter break. You don’t have anything better to do with your time than sh1t on the parents?

Go for a hike - the weather is nice.

I am a parent, brainiac.

Go spend time with your kids FFS.

Pot, meet kettle.

The younger two are learning the exact same thing their older sibling learned in previous years. iReady scores look great. I'm not sure whether they're doing the IAAT, but I expect our oldest child to do well on it if they do. His school sent out a couple sample questions and he had no problem with them.

I haven’t been posting endlessly on this thread.

If you feel the need to crap on teachers page after page after page maybe you should step back.

I realize you're a DP...but your definition of thriving is that DL is not completely failing? That sounds about right.

Yes, my kids are entitled to an education. In this country, education is an entitlement. And the virtual school is not an education. Glad it works for some kids. It is a totally failure for mine.
