How ‘bout them apples? I actually thought is was wicked good. |
Will Ferrell is funny as a sidekick or in a cameo (think Frank the Tank or Chaz), but if he is the main character (think Elf, Anchorman, or Talladega Nights), you are correct. Adam Sandler was funny doing the Hanukkah song, but that was it. Agreed. Baby voice in every movie. He sucks. Wedding Singer was the best movie he was in, but Drew B. and the 80s music references carried that movie. I thought Home Alone had its moments, but a very overrated movie. So, I think your post was spot on. |
PP is right it was beyond pathetic. Black actors playing white historical figures is just absurd. It's like remaking Roots but reversing the roles for white and black characters. Not only offensive but absurd. |
I don't have an issue with the artistic choices, but the level of LMM's acting, which I think is just so-so. |
Here's my unpopular opinion: The LMM backlash is gross. He's incredibly talented -- not as an actor or singer, but he's a creative genius who has created opportunities for so many people of color and seems to have a deep reservoir of ideas and inspiration.

+1 Those who can create, do. Those who can't, carp about those who do. |
Here is my unpopular opinion:
All of the Batchelor/Batchelorette shows, Real Housewives show, KUWTK, etc. and anything else like it are painful to watch and quite possibly make you dumber. |
NP. Golly gee, PP, so entertainment reporters always give an objective and unbiased portrait of the person they're profiling? Wow! Seriously, anyone can "point out several instances" where anyone else was rude during one interview on one given day. And paint that as The Way This Person Is At His Core. I like Hanks as an actor and he seems like a cool person, but I'm not responding to your post to defend him. I'm responding because it's hard to believe anyone thinks any one article, especially one "decades ago," ever gets at anyone's real self. Maybe that's why I prefer to enjoy people's work, or like specific characters they play, but don't know or care a lot about whether some article wants to tell me what they're like. Outright nastiness like with Kevin Spacey, for instance? Yep, that's documented horribleness and puts me off the performer. But vague "Actor was snarky to me, the reporter" stuff? Don't care. Oh, and by the way, I'm a former reporter, though not in entertainment. And I know there are plenty of agendas in every kind of newsroom. |
That seems like a POPULAR opinion. I think my opinion is the unpopular one, which is that I find those shows a fascinating insight into the human psyche and thing that people who trash talk them are elitist. And I think Kim Kardashian is a good person and, while I'm sure she isn't crying into her 8000 thread count pillows about it, is a victim of our rampantly misogynistic culture. But she has also built her empire off of it so I think she comes out on top. |
Amen. I never could figure out why things like the Bachelor/ette shows, Love Island etc. are not seen as pretty much outright prostitution. But I guess if everyone signs the releases and says they're fine with being presented that way.... |
That's not an unpopular opinion. And you clearly shouldn't be commenting on anyone's intelligence. |
This is an unpopular opinion because otherwise these shows would not be so popular and continue for so long. I watched KUWTK years ago but realized it was rotting my brain and stopped. |
It is not unpopular, even people who like them mostly think they are mindless crappy entertainment. Today's Jerry Springer show. |
Hated Pulp Fiction. Thought the Uma dance with Travolta was stupid, didn’t like the violence, just not enjoyable at all. Every one of my friends raved about this movie, but it’s one of my all-time least favorites. Just don’t understand how so many people LOVED this movie. |
