I’m one of the worry warts... this is still under the assumption there will be more than one team. I honestly cannot think of how they’re considering the state of the girls program AT ALL. |
|
We're considering leaving, DD was at a different club last night but I decided to swing by late session last night. I can't tell if social distancing is still being enforced but I did notice a smaller amount of players than last year. Yes, COVID, I understand. But of the two clubs we've tried out at, both were experiencing COVID scares and both still had 20+ players. This mirrors the rumors we've heard.
Not sure how this academy supposed to work if (and in reality, "if" meaning "when") there is only one team per age group? I didn't see enough for substitutes, let alone academy. |
It sounds like the whole academy idea is to have each age/gender group's teams practice at the same time and place. So, if there's only one team...logically, they'll be practicing at their time and place, potentially, without any other teams. In other words, for teams in that situation it will be the same as last year, no? |
That's the concern. It was talked up just how good the academy system is, like in Europe. But if it's just a single team, is there anything to help out the players? Sounds like the academy system is only good for a couple teams. Ironically enough, looks at which teams (2006 boys, 2007 boys and look who is the coach). It's been said all along, this was never meant to better our players. It was meant to help the coaches. Really sad. |
Players will still train just as one team and the coach is still responsible for helping develop the players as it has always been. |
So, new and exciting change that isn’t? |
Well they can only do so much where limited with numbers. So if it’s not exciting to you, what do you suggest they do different in those cases. Where they are doing something different you complain that the way everyone else is doing is best so then in case where they have to do what you ask for you complain that it’s not good enough. I think no matter what they would do, you would just come here and complain about it. |
Given the state my club is in, yes. We’ve been her and stayed here. And now? Broad sword answer to the entire program all without ANY input from the community. Cause when I say “let’s leave CCL and join NCSL since there’s so few players and I don’t want to see my DC not even even able to compete in a match” I get told shut up. “I don’t like the academy model” I’m told to shut up. What am I allowed to complain about again? Or is it just shit up and pay, Coach? |
There are tons of clubs that have geographic overlap with LMVSC at every level from very casual fun in NCSL focused all the way through very competitive in ECNL. If you're at one that no longer matches your need or expectations, switch |
That’s been typical answer. You don’t like it, leave. Really such a great attitude to cater towards the paying customer. But, I think you’re giving some good advice. Take care. |
First off I’m not telling you to leave. I’m asking what do you think they should do. I see a lot of people complaining but nothing else, not how they think it could be better. As for the leave to NCSL, I do think that you are correct about some teams. Other teams I think are ok for ccl. Maybe those better teams could go to something like edp. |
PP- I'm the parent of a kids in a different area club. We're happy with our teams and coaches, and really happy our club doesn't have this kind of drama. |
I like some of the things at this club and not others. I wish their numbers were bigger for the general health of the club. I'm also happy with my kids teams and their coaches. I know this is impossible for all age groups since some are not very healthy with numbers. I have not heard anyone have the attitude of take it or leave except here on this board. |
| Our kids play basketball with your club- at least on that end, it seems like a really good group. Then you hear about the drama on the soccer side and there just seems like a huge disconnect |
| We left this past season... we’re happy where we are now but I must admit we’re happy to be away from drama. We do love our community, but there is a big problem with the program. Regardless, we’re still in our community so it’s not like we feel out of place now. |
