Exactly. Barb is doing the best that she can. She clearly cares about all of her children and grandchildren. Jenelle constantly abuses her, but she doesn't ever leave her side and is always there to pick her up and tries her hardest to protect her from these piece of shit boyfriends. As petite as she is, she has gotten into several all out shouting matches with these 6 ft tall brolic men that Jenelle loves. I don't know what happened in Jenelle's elementary years to get her to this point, but Barb has been a good mother to her. Also, remember that though Jenelle is a mess right now, she was MUCH WORSE when she first had Jace. When he was an infant, she would leave him with Barb night after night to go partying. That's why it was easier for Barb to get custody. Also, when she was dating Keifer she was strung out on heroine and they would go off on random road trips. Jace's father hasn't even spent a day with him, so there was no question why Barb should have custody. With Kaiser, Nathan has definitely been present (if only for tv) and on face value is competent enough to take care of his child. Jenelle has also been getting subscriptions for her substance abuse so it's "justified". |
Jenelle also voluntarily gave up custody of Jace, which she probably saw as an opportunity to get rid of her mistake and go back to her party lifestyle. That was 6-7 years ago. Some things have changed, and Jenelle is more aware of her "image." She's not giving up custody of Kaiser. Nathan is semi-involved with Kaiser, maybe just for TV but maybe not, and his parents also have a relationship with Kaiser. Barbara has said that she barely knows Kaiser because Jenelle and Nathan used his parents for babysitting, not her. |

Anybody watch the winter premier last night? I'm worried that Jenelle's boyfriend David is getting this good edit. The catch-up special beforehand kept calling him "drama-free" and seemed to imply that she was finally getting her life together because of him. The court case was... interesting.
Poor Isaac, just seeing how bummed he was that Javi wasn't at his kindergarten thing makes me sad for how he's probably handling the divorce. There was a preview clip of Javi and Kail telling him that Javi was getting a new house, and Isaac was all excited for his new room... until Kail told him that he wouldn't have his own room, and would probably just stay over in Lincoln's room when he visited. Crushing. Leah, Chelsea, meh. Same old, same old. Leah's a mess, Chelsea is fading off into privacy and the good life, sans MTV. |
| Seriously f*ck Kail for pushing Javi on Isaac so hard in her effort to push out Jo. It's great that Isaac loves Jack except for the whole part where Kail stressed he was OTHER DAD and then divorced in <2 years. Way to screw up your kids, Kailyn. |
| Isaac loves Javi* |
Yes, I wish Kail could have just made it work with Javi. He seemed like a great guy/dad -- at least what MTV showed, anyway. |
|
I was anti- Isaac calling Javi Dad until Jo gave some interview or said on Twitter that he was fine with it (once again, showing that Jo is often the most mature grownup in this debacle). Jo's super-involved and proud of fatherhood, so if he's cool with it, I'm letting it go.
I don't think Javi is that great of a guy. He definitely had his controlling moments, and he is just too immature to be married. It seemed like as soon as Kail expressed doubts about having another kid, he was done. They should have tabled that convo for later, when he came home from deployment, but instead he was telling her to get the divorce paperwork started. Of course, there were plenty of scenes where Kail was impossible to work with too, so it's definitely on both of them. He does seem to like being a dad, even though I wish he would have knocked off the "you're the man of the house" talk with Isaac. |
She complained to Dr. Drew (in tears) that her mom brought around tons on guys, and between husbands and live-ins, she had 8 stepdads. And Kailyn is already nearly halfway there with poor sweet Isaac. She is creating terrible abandonment issues for him. She needs to realize the problem is her. |
That was editing for the show. They've both stated on Twitter that Kail filed for divorce in December. Before he left. That's why she doesn't think she was cheating on him while he was deployed. |
Even though it's old news, it's still shocking that Jenelle wasn't convicted of the assault charges. I don't know how you can throw a glass at someone, hit them, and it not be assault. And her lawyer saying that "she knew Jenelle would get off", um no. Last season Jenelle went into one of her typical meltdowns after the attorney told her to try and work it out offline since she would most likely be convicted. |
I think because it was a jury trial, and the testimony seemed to be filled with drama, the jury was like "Yeah, we don't know wtf happened, so... not guilty I guess." Both Nathan and the girlfriend (that he's since been charged with choking) focused on the custody thing and their past with Jenelle, vs what actually happened. Jenelle's attorney was so slimy though. "You push her buttons and get her riled up, don't you?" Yeah, Jenelle is totally not responsible for her actions, you guys! I feel like this would have been an awesome case for Judge Judy. Can you imagine? |
Judge Judy would have said "16 arrests?! YA GUILTY!!!"
|
There are some jokes on Reddit alluding to this going to Judge Judy. Janelle won't have a career anyway, too many court run in's, even without the convictions. |
That's really sad. I always had more sympathy for Kail because of her upbringing. Even going back to her 16&P episode, her mom finally took her shopping for baby furniture, then took her back to Jo's parents' house and described the furniture as "heirloom quality" but declined to pay for any of it. Then when Kail wanted her to stay for a while and talk about baby plans, her mom said she had to go meet her boyfriend. Even Jo's mom tried to intervene and tell Suzy that Kail really needed her, but she left anyway. Kail was kind of bratty, and still is, during those early episodes, but she had virtually no positive role models. I hope that Javi sticks around in Isaac's life, or at least lets them grow apart slowly. I think it's clear that Jo is in it for the long haul, so he's always going to be there. Hopefully Kail moves slowly into her next relationship. Looks like Javi's already picked up another. |
| so i'm late and now catching up on the teen mom OG finale...what is up with Farrah's mom? why did she show up with a wig and ask the audience how she looked? all this because her boyfriend asking her to look like Farrah...dear Lord! |
