WashU is putting in running a whisper quiet ED3 round where they are putting in calls to students to ask if student will definitely accept and if so, they get an offer off the waitlist. But if you say yes, you are expected to accept (verbally binding). So be ready because anecdotally I hear they are making multiple calls this past week!

Lot of schools handle the wait list this way. Schools want the list to move quickly.

Every year the incoming class has gone up. I'm sure they don't want this year to be the exception.

"Whisper waitlist" or ED3: verbal offer and actual offer only when student verbally commits in advance:

It’s normal for schools to call to check if the kid wants the offer. Some don’t. Many do. Calm down.
