Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart

As far as I can tell, all of the girls in her grade get along and there is a great parent community.

Pls tell me more. DD is an 8th grader currently and is applying to SR for 9th ( class of 2030). I have serious concerns after reading this thread.

I have a 2030, there are almost 70 girls in the class. Lots of girls who play sports seriously, some who are busy with the arts, some who are boy crazy, others who are not at all there yet. My daughter has a lot of friends who are pretty different, they occasionally have some friend drama but nothing at all like what I’ve read here. We really like the school and think this will be a great group for high school.

About 5 are extremely good. One that I won't name has no idea what she's doing. Rest of them are fine.

There are many freshmen girls who are drinking every weekend. Is this normal for SR?

I think that is typical for a group of kids in every freshman class in every school. Doesn’t mean it needs to be your kid.

I know there are students at SR (and this is true for many or most privates) who are regularly drinking. Not necessarily talking about big parties but there’s a quiet acceptance of kids “drinking socially” amongst a certain group of parents—in some cases the parents are checked out or drunk themselves or they don’t think much of it because they are at the club and that’s what they did. SR is no different on this, but this is definitely not the norm or majority of kids at SR.

+1 - have seen this at SR too. Not only accepted among the parents but it has always surprised by how they help facilitate it for their DDs.

I believe this is very true. Not a parent at the school, but during middle school my daughter played lacrosse with many SR girls and I overheard a parent discussing letting their kids drink so that they can learn how to handle liquor. This was when they were in 8th grade. Very concerning and we steered clear of them after hearing that.

This is alarming

This thread is so concerning but it also doesn’t hive at all with what mt friend with a girl at SR tells me. Her daughter is new to SR and not a mean girl type and says everyone has been incredibly nice. Can both things be true? I don’t know.
