2014 South is great, but the kids peel off to other clubs instead of wanting to join up with the GA team at U13 so far away from The St James Field house. No way families will drive an hour in Rush hour every evening to training out west.

Yes - it is an opportunity - but is it a good opportunity? Losing by double digits in Copa Reyados doesn't justify "getting to compete against other clubs"

We may have lost, but no where close to double digits. If you want to pick a game or two from an entire tournament from a particular age group have at it. Doing so makes you look small, and petty. The reality is that losing by a goal or two isn’t as big a catastrophe as you make it out to be. We will see you on the pitch. Hope we don’t ruin your dreams.

2008 GA: 0-4, 0-3, 1-2, 0-3
2007 GA: 2-3, 3-0

the new TSJ slogan: 6 teams, one win, 18 games

almost half the games were by more than 5 goals.

Well...

There are 2 SOUTH 2014 teams. and 1 MSC 2014 Team
But yes, there's a mixed 2013/2014 Team in the North. (this was 2 teams in each age group last year)

With declining North teams, seems like those in the South won't need to be concerned with driving out to Loudoun in future years

Ha. So true. Richmond ECNL pulls players living closer to VDA, Beach and Skyline.

Also, I would never do it but over the years daughter's Northern VA team had players traveling from places we didn't know existed. From way down in St. Mary's County, MD, From out in West Virginia, and bypassing closer ECNL/GA clubs (that they could also easily start on) on their way back and forth. Crazy...

TSJ is on the decline. Older players leaving. And the success of the younger teams is a shell game of players moving between teams in tournaments. Top players playing on bottom teams etc…

When Barca Academy first started they had families driving 2+ hours (E/NE of the Beltway) 3~4x a week for practice at Evergreen/RavenTech

There aren’t any nova kids at Richmond ecnl but there are Richmond players at nova ecnl programs.

About 75 minutes or pay $30 in toll fees. That is part of the reason why the 2013-2014s are peeling off to SYC, McLean and Arlington's programs. They can get on top programs at less than half the distance. TSJFC South just needs to break away ant team up with someone locally if they want that side of the program to grow past U11&U12. So far, the've developed the kids, but many don't stay on and transition out west.

Generally I think many wouldn’t do the drive, but when you are on a TSJ team in the north and start to learn who your teammates are you quickly realize that there are more than a few who not only drive from Springfield, but much further. So in a sense you are both wrong and right at the same time.
